Daily Inspiration: Meet Kimberly Vieyra

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberly Vieyra

Kimberly, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I grew up super insecure. I called myself the black sheep of the family. No one else in my family did, I just labeled myself that. I was a little awkward looking. Or at least I saw myself that way. It’s taken me almost my whole 30 years of existence to realize how much damage I was doing to myself. Body dysmorphia is real. Food disorders are real. Insecurities take you to places that only surrender and healing and pull you out of. I started doing photoshoots for fun about 5 years ago. My friends always encouraged me and called me a model. I just thought they were my friends. Just about 2 years ago, I finally decided to risk it! One of my passions is speaking into women’s lives and pulling out their passions and desires that they have hidden. Through some modeling and women’s events, I have seen my passions come to life. So much so that I am finally believing in myself and my capabilities. I have started dreaming for some big things. A friend and I have joined together and have started a clothing line. It’s in the early stages and something fun for the both of us, but I have a feeling it’s the start of something big and that makes me so excited!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
HECK NO! My insecurities alone made the road bumpy. This journey is uncomfortable but that’s what makes it so fun. Don’t get me wrong, there are many, MANY days that I want to quit and run to what is familiar and what is comfortable. That’s when I need to push myself and I am grateful that I have surrounded myself with powerhouses and dreamers that pull me out of my rut! My tribe gives me the words when mine seem to fail me.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
my new dream project is still in the early stages and I’d like to keep that on the DL for a bit, and since that isn’t paying the bill just yet, I am a data analyst by day. However, I am a creative. I like to have my hands in anything that can make this world more beautiful. Last year I shot a music video for an inspiring and hilarious rapper named Robbie Tripp. His music has made woman all over feel good about themselves. Being real is in, that’s his over-all message and I knew I had to be a part of that! Tripp is going places. You can check out Citrus Breeze on YouTube! Recently, I was a part of a body positivity campaign by a local AMAZING photographer. I am more proud of that work because it speaks into where we are at in society and what we are trying to change. It was the first time I had been photographed with very little clothes on. I had a bodysuit on, but I had never been that brave to let anyone, let alone a photographer take my picture in it. I put God first. I believe God is in control of my life and as I surrender more of myself, God is doing what only God can do and opening up opportunities.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
DO NOT QUIT!!! If you believe in what you are bringing to the table. KEEP AT IT! I wish I didn’t speak so harshly to myself. I recently found a letter I wrote to myself over 7 years ago. I told myself that I had better lose all that extra weight because I was a fat cow. YIKES. I was mean to myself.
