Daily Inspiration: Meet Kendall Udofia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kendall Udofia.

Kendall, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I have always loved doodling and writing people’s names in pretty ways but eventually came across calligraphy through social media in college (even though I had dabbled in it when I was a kid). It’s funny because I was a college athlete playing basketball which took up a lot of my time but I have always needed a creative outlet so this was mine!

I can’t remember exactly how but I found a few popular calligraphy accounts on Instagram (Amanda Arneill and Becca Courtice) and I completely fell in love with it! I just listened to everything the experts I followed said and practiced over the years to grow in my style. I just love making words and letters look beautiful. And I had dabbled in trying to make it a business before but I was never really sure the best way to go about it and what avenue of calligraphy I was most passionate about.

I had created some wedding signage for my own wedding and a few friends which I really enjoyed creating but it wasn’t until 2021 that I decided that I wanted to make more wedding and event signage for people! So early this year (2022) I decided to officially launch Cedar Cliff Designs and I am so glad I did! Cedar Cliff is the street my grandparents lived on in a small town in Indiana where my parents grew up and it holds a very special place in my heart so I decided to name my business after it to honor my family’s roots and especially to honor my mom who is now with Jesus and forever deeply missed.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s been fairly smooth overall! I am very fortunate to have found great resources and guidance to help me get started out on the right foot. My main struggle is just juggling being a full-time mom to my little kids while trying to do this business!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in hand-lettered wedding and event signage! Every sign I make is done by hand and I just love creating beautiful signage for people to display at such important moments in their lives. It is an honor to play a small role in bringing beauty to their special day.

I believe what sets me apart is not only my classic calligraphy style but just how I strive to make each customer know they’re heard and valued and that I want to ensure that they love every detail that I create for their big day or special event because that is all that matters!

What do you think about luck?
Personally, I don’t believe in luck but I believe that we are all created and beautifully designed by God for a specific purpose. So I believe I have been incredibly blessed in my life (some people may call that good luck) to have the talent and opportunities that I have been given.

I’ve worked hard to get where I am but doing the right thing, loving and respecting others, and honoring the One who has blessed me is what’s most important and is what I believe has helped me the most in networking and building my business.
