Daily Inspiration: Meet Kelvin Hames

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelvin Hames.

Hi Kelvin, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have always had a love for music growing up as a kid, greatly influenced from my dad, church, and school. I always was doing something musically oriented whether that was playing piano, doing musicals, playing in concert band, or learning guitar. I used that love and talent I was blessed with to start writing my own music and that’s kinda where we are now!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not necessarily, the band process is really hard and a grind. I’ve been performing for about 8 years and just now started to pick up some sort of traction with even that being pretty small. You have to pay your dues, play the shows you don’t want to, write bad songs to get to good ones, have different band members come and go. It’s definitely not a smooth road at all.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I work at an AZ ski shop called Ski Pro. There I sell snowboards and do a lot of inventory processing and overseeing. It’s a really fun job and something I’m blessed to have. The people in the industry are all awesome and their super flexible and supportive of my music journey!

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory would probably have to be when I was in Mexico with my parents and some friends from church. My dad thought he was being cool and tried taking our truck through some small sand dune hills but never put the truck in 4WD. Long story short, he got us stuck for I think 3 hours and we were finally helped out by a Jeep with wench. It was a very frustrating moment at the time but looking back at it, it was super funny and just a awesome story.
