Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelsey Erickson.
Hi Kelsey , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
It all started when I watched the 2022 film Elvis. I had always felt drawn to old music/movies, vintage style, and the deep sense of nostalgia that comes with looking back on the past. But something about that movie stirred something new in me, an obsession not just to Elvis himself, but to an entire era. It felt like rediscovering a part of myself I never knew I was missing.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I don’t know if it sounds too proud to say, but honestly, the journey has been pretty smooth! When you find something, or someone you’re truly passionate about, it becomes more than just interest…it’s almost electric. There’s something deeply fulfilling about exploring the life of someone who captivates you. It’s not just learning, it’s connecting, and you want to share it with everyone.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I create Elvis content on Instagram, sharing my love for him and highlighting his history here in Arizona, which most people don’t even realize exists. I think people would be surprised with how much Elvis history is here in AZ. I’ve always been into vintage music and style, so falling down the Elvis rabbit hole was inevitable. What started as a personal passion turned into a way to connect with others who feel the same. We have created a pretty beautiful community on Instagram, and I have gained so many amazing friends.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I wouldn’t call myself a risk-taker, but I do believe you can achieve anything you set your mind to. When I first started my page, I was SOOO nervous about how people around me might react, it was outside my norm, and I wasn’t sure how it would be received. (Making a fan page about someone who’s been gone for almost 50 years??) But something in me felt strongly pulled to do it. Looking back, I’m so glad I listened to that instinct. I’ve made incredible friendships, not just here in Arizona, but all over the world!! It’s amazing how something that once felt like a leap can lead to such meaningful connections. Always follow what makes you happy. You never know where it might take you, and the people who love you for you will never judge.
