Today we’d like to introduce you to Keila Hall.
Hi Keila, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I am 26 years old, married with 2 beautiful kids. I started working in the fitness industry while earning my Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and Physiology from Bowling Green State University. I had always been involved in sports growing up but the health and wellness part of fitness became so much more important once I started school. I would host workshops at the recreation center & aid with women’s self-defense classes. It’s been six years since I’ve been working in this industry and I love it more each day. From small workshops to 1-on-1 personal training to large group fit classes I’ve pretty much had my hands in everything!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Working in the fitness industry has its highs and lows. I’ve learned so much over the years by coaching many different demographics. Having my first child in college was an obstacle in itself but earning that degree was so important to me. Being a mother is something that is hard to navigate in this industry because of postpartum and how your body is always changing. It’s also helped me to connect to other women who have had children & want to live healthy lifestyles not only for themselves but for their kids. The pandemic was one of those challenges, having to adapt to doing things virtually and try to make that connection with your clients. But overall, I gained more than I lost during the shutdown. Coaching causes for early mornings & sometimes really long nights but I wouldn’t trade it!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I provide personal training services at Funktional Fitness in downtown Gilbert. Which will soon be rebranded as The Collective this summer located in the epicenter. I work with people from 18-60+ doing 1-on-1 sessions, semi-private & group classes. I host the BEST all women’s specialty class in the valley called Glutes & Gainz every other Saturday! It’s a great class to come and meet new people, learn technique when it comes to building your glutes & overall have fun! I specialize in weight loss & weight gain through weightlifting & macro nutritional guidance. I am most proud of the connections I am able to make with each client no matter their age or background! Being able to help them accomplish their goals & ultimately live a better quality of life is the best part.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite memory is hosting kickball games with my siblings in our backyard. We always stayed outside riding bikes or doing something active. We all played sports in grade school.
