Daily Inspiration: Meet Julie Rambo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Julie Rambo

Hi Julie, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Design and the use of colors and textiles started to peak my interest around the time I was 27 years old. Of course, I had champagne taste on a beer budget. I worked full time in Mortgage Banking and had a degree in Business Management. When my husband and I started our family I decided to stay home and focus my time on our growing family. Our income grew so I was able to really begin investing in beautiful pieces for our home. My budget went from beer to an affordable wine, lol. At that time we lived in Naperville, IL. It was in 2012 after my 3rd child was born that we relocated to Anthem, AZ. One of my firsts friends in Anthem, encouraged me consistently to start an interior design business. She was the first person who recognized my talent. Unfortunately, my fear had the better of me. Maybe, it was the plan all along. Timing is everything, right? Fast forward to Spring 2023 a local family friend asked if I could help renovate their family room/kitchen/dining room/entryway/formal living room. Of course, I jumped into it head first. It felt at the time, I was doing my friends a favor. But, in reality that’s how my business started to unfold. It happened so fast and organically that I had no time to have fear. I had no time to over think or worry. I had no time to second guess myself. Out of nothing emerged, DiFrancesco Designs. To give credit, where credit is due a few of my very good friends with their support helped me with my business name, logo, and business cards. I had zero time to focus on that aspect of the business. The name was perfection. I am very proud of my family name and the sacrifices that my great great grandparents made to come here from Sicily. I am blessed to have such supportive girlfriends. My husband and my children (all 4 of them) are my biggest fans. Lucky for me, my husband is very handy. He can build amazing pieces and has contributed to the success of DiFrancesco Designs. I am continuing to grow personally and professionally every day. Sure, I make mistakes but that’s how we grow. Without failing how do we become successful? I am continually learning from each new project. I welcome a great challenge and I am excited to watch Di Francesco Designs become a big success.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
To be completely transparent I have not had many obstacles. My husband always says, there is always a solution to a problem. There is nothing that we cant solve. I have encountered challenges. But, I love a good challenge. It motivates me to be better and to learn. I definitely lean on experts if it’s out of my wheel house.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
As an Interior Designer I have the opportunity to be creative daily. My clients are all unique. Their style is very personal. It’s definitely not a one size fits all approach. In fact, each space that I have created will not look the same as the next. To be honest it would truly be disappointing if the design was repetitive. I love working with different style designs and using color, textiles, layers to elevate a room. My relationship with my clients sets me apart from others. I truly love getting to know each one of my clients. It’s not a transaction but a relationship. Design is so personal and can be very scary for the client. I work very hard on building trust and “listening” to their needs. You can learn a lot from a person if you quiet your mind and really listen. I am proud of the execution of each design because the client and DiFrancesco Designs work hand in hand together to bring the vision to life.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
My advice for anyone starting out with Interior Design or any new endeavor would be to JUMP HEAD FIRST. Thinking is over rated. Do not base your decision on the opinion of others. The only way to grow is to be uncomfortable. Lean on others that have the experience.

Looking back I am right where I am supposed to be. There is nothing I wish I did differently. I am content and proud of the journey that took me to the place I am today.
