Daily Inspiration: Meet Julia Nitescu

Today we’d like to introduce you to Julia Nitescu.

Hi Julia, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
After finishing cosmetology school, I started my career as an esthetician 17 years ago. I opened my small business right away in a shared space with my father, who was a renowned ophthalmologist. It hasn’t been a smooth road. I was constantly looking to get clients through the door, but once they came, they loved my work, so that kept me going. After 4 years of growth and constant expansion, I decided to join a bigger company that offered high-end cosmetic procedures, products, and training. For a small European town, it was the perfect place to get noticed and put my knowledge to work. I also started to train other estheticians and became part of the examination board at several beauty schools. I followed my dream of completing my Master’s degree in Cosmetology and Dermopharmacy, and despite being offered a job at the university, I relocated to Phoenix, AZ.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
As a fresh esthetician, you struggle with building a consistent customer base right out of school. It can get frustrating and take years, and being your boss, bookkeeping, and buying equipment can be overwhelming. This is one of the reasons that motivated me to teach and become an instructor. I wanted to make students’ lives easier and make them aware of the importance of this career’s social aspect. You are not just providing a service to a client. You are a healer, a psychologist, a friend, a person to talk to, someone they look up to regarding skincare recommendations.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
As a spa therapist, I do facials, peels, brows, lash lifts, makeup, and waxing. The various treatments include nano needling, microdermabrasion, advanced peels, ultrasound, and micro-current. I specialize in anti-aging treatments and skincare formulation. My extensive hands-on experience allows me to understand skin, and my chemistry background helps me be product-savvy. It’s the perfect cocktail, so I often get asked to pick the ideal product at my job, even if it is haircare.

What makes you happy?
Skincare is healthcare and requires consistency. When people feel good in their skin, and it is noticeable, it’s priceless! Also, educating the guest to maintain great results further is a must. It is a very rewarding experience to get positive feedback and return clients. The industry has changed dramatically over the years. Sometimes, people get confused with all the options on the market. You will be their first option when choosing the right product if they trust you.
