Daily Inspiration: Meet Jobi da Great

Hi Jobi da Great, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
After over a year i’ve finally released my debut single, “Run The Game.” As an artist and creative i think it’s important to have a debut where your talent can be displayed and made for a formal introduction. After a year of planning, what i like to call the “Run It” rollout has commenced, over the last 3 months i’ve issued a campaign for my single and debut track. The campaign includes the song being made available on all streaming platforms, a merch drop, pop up performances, and a music video to top it off. From writing this song at the age of 20, in 2020, it has been important for me to have a true debut, and no song has seemed more qualified than “Run the Game.” “Run The Game” is a formal introduction to the music scene and music industry. While the song has existed for 4 years, after finishing college and refocusing my passion for music, early 2023, i knew it was time to get the ball rolling for the single. From recording the song, to working with graphic designers and, photographers for the cover art and making merch and later codireting the video with Matt Valquez, theres no denying I along with everyone whose been apart of the process has been running it. All this accomplished in 3 months and being the catalyst for a project and other upcoming singles and visuals!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The process to bring this rollout about has not been easy. Obstacles including finding the right people to work with, meeting deadlines, and trying to maintain my creative integrity in regards to compromises and misunderstandings, made for a particularly challenging ordeal to releasing this song. It almost felt like it was cursed for a while with the amount of push back, and obstacles that came about trying to put out this song the right way, While i do work with many people for various roles, everything in regards to my music and art has been done and executed entirely independently by me. No one gave me suggestions towards when to release what or how, and no one sat with me one on one to plan everything, a lot of things by divine timing and God’s hand being with me through the process brought this song and rollout to be.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m an artist, a singer, and songwriter and creative director. I personally have 3 songs and videos for each song within my discography under my belt. All available on Youtube and streaming platforms. I’m inspired by nostalgia and the things i’ve seen growing up while many are in their lane trying to find what they want to do i feel i’ve known for the longest time and am now just being able to be in the place to do it all how i’ve dreamed it.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up I’ve always been a Disney Channel kid, the era of 1999s-2010’s was prime entertainment, my adolescent years consisting in that time i found has come to play a major part in my personality development and other interest up to this day. Growing up i also grew up in church where from it, the virtue of unity has been instilled in me from young. I’ve always felt love and unity to be very important, things the world needs above all else. I’ve always been a peace maker, i have a meditator personality type; being able to bring people together and make others happy has looking back been a sought out mission of mine in many instances. Having a passion to create and finding a certain level of peace in art and other visually pleasing things from clothes, movies, painting to my Mom’s interior decorating, art i’ve found to be my highest form of self expression. I rather write a letter then talk out loud.
