Daily Inspiration: Meet Jennifer Jolls

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Jolls.

Hi Jennifer, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
An Arizona 30+ year transplant of Chicago, music has always been a thread in my life. I’ve been lucky enough to have a variety of occupations here in the valley. From Mountain Shadows Resort (the original one), to Independent Newspapers, to Fox Animation Studio, and many venues in the hospitality arena.
I’ve always had music as a side gig, whether teaching or playing. Teaching piano and music theory is one of the most rewarding occupations. It’s now my entire focus for the past 15 years.
Music is your best friend for life and the ability to play can also be the best therapy in the world. Too much stress? Pull out a Bach Invention or Vivaldi!
I have a great bunch of students of all ages. We cover all genres of music – from classical to popular and everything in between. Our last recital was a tribute to John Williams music.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I’ve been lucky to find wonderful employers, great friends and lots of support here in Phoenix.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Music is my life. I specialize in an absolute variety of music. Whether playing or teaching piano:
Classical, Jazz, Broadway, Movies, Popular, Rock and Roll, Oldies, Every decade, Spiritual Hymns, New Age, love songs…
Put it in front of me, and I will play it.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Don’t overspend or try to be everything to everyone when starting out. Find your own convictions and stick to them. You really learn as you go.
