Daily Inspiration: Meet Jason Luna

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Luna.

Jason, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
How I first started was becoming interested and curious of these different photographers I’d see on Instagram shooting in various places I thought was dope. Bought my first camera on OfferUp, slowly started shooting local small shows, and got my name out there.

I was continuously tagging everyone I can do lots of free work until I came to the point where I realized how much people really liked my photos and I started to take it a little more seriously. I then bought my second camera and here I am today. I’m not where I want to be quite yet and I’m quite optimistic about what’s in store for me next.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s definitely not an easy road. Not everyone can just pick up a camera and call themselves a photographer.

Some of the struggles I had to face personally, and still do, are maintaining constant workflow and being consistent with it. Sometimes I struggle with creators’ block and come to a halt with my whole movement. I feel like I dIn’t want to do this anymore as a result of that.

After my pops passed away it only fueled me more to keep pushing and re-strategize my game.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
So I work a 9-5 job still. I pretty much do my photography on the side to be upfront.

My goal is to quit my 9-5 so that I can fully focus on my photography and turn it into a career and a lifestyle. I would say working photography, for the most part, I’m known for my editing style. I’m known for catching ill moments when an artist performing on stage or I’m capturing blows and hits at a boxing match.

I’m most proud of the differentiation I set myself apart from other photographers out there. I feel like I got a look and editing style that no one can touch on my level. I can say I’m one of the best to come out of Arizona by far.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I see the photo industry going in the right direction. I feel like there’s going to be a lot more young photographers popping out and discovering themselves. I feel like in 5-10 years, Arizona will be booming more than ever and the industry is just going to keep growing.

Everyone needs photos and I don’t think the industry is going anywhere.
