Daily Inspiration: Meet Gauthier Raad

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gauthier Raad.

Hi Gauthier, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
As an artist, especially after everything that has been happening with the world in the past 2-3 years, my perspective of the world, work, love, art, joy, fun, and finance has changed… I have been working in production houses, big media companies, and big festivals, with independent artists for the past 10 years+ in different parts of the world.

In my early twenties, I had a lot of dreams but didn’t know where to start. I had no connections or knowledge of the artistic and audiovisual world… I started as a real independent but never limited myself to this word. I wanted to know more, to see more. to understand more, to explore more…

Until this day, I have done many awarded short movies and 2 feature documentaries. I have met so many beautiful people all over the world who have helped me discover new horizons and new ways of thinking and living.

Actually, I manage 3 film festivals in 3 different countries… and looking to jump into the upcoming exciting professional adventure.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Well… I think most people will have the same answer “No it hasn’t”. Each one of us has our own story and each of our stories is difficult based on what we lived. Part of my struggle comes from the fact that I wasn’t surrounded by any artistic influence growing up.

I was raised in a home where the TV was considered only a distraction for children… just like other activities.

Growing up I had to find and nourish my artistic side without any support from my family or my environment. I had to understand what was this attraction to audiovisuals, to art, to TV, to film… even without accessing them… I had to move to another country to access better education and kept moving from one place to another in order for me to follow my dreams.

Moving to another country gives you a lot, it enriches you but also takes from you a lot… Nothing has been so easy for me… I had and I still have to work hard every day in order for me to access any ideas I dream of… I still believe in my dreams, some days less, some days more…

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Well, I am a filmmaker, producer, and film festival director. Nothing sets me apart from the others, I don’t feel that I am in competition with anybody. Each one has something to say, to do, and to show. I will be premiering my short movie “Love me tinder” this November at A Night Of Misfit Films in Arizona during the thanksgiving weekend. I invite you all to come and watch it. It is a worldwide story… A woman searching for love in the wrong places… aren’t we all?

I am recently specialized in audiovisual management. My last work experience was at the Festival d’Avignon, the biggest performing arts festival in Europe. I was the audiovisual manager and media partnership manager for the 2022 edition. It was such an amazing experience meeting artists and producers from all over the world.

After the Avignon Festival, I jumped onto the first plane to Beirut, Lebanon where I directed the Lebanese Independent Film Festival. It was a huge success with all the local and international media coverage we got. We shed light on freedom of speech, diversity, and the importance of indie art.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you.
I think it is more hard work than it is Luck… I am grateful for everything I have… I am grateful for my health, and the people around me. the people who teach me small and big things (and still teach me).

I learn a lot from my experiences… Most of the time I learn the hard way, maybe this is luck… being able to learn, this is luck.
