Today we’d like to introduce you to Frank and Mitch Castillo
Hi Frank and Mitch, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Frank: My husband and I have been in the mortgage business for over 20 years combined. We have worked with some of the top lenders in the nation. In February of 2020, right before COVID hit hard, we decided to move across the country from our hometowns in IL to beautiful Arizona. We were offered an opportunity to work for a start-up company in North Scottsdale. As soon as we moved, COVID hit and everyone was made to work remotely. This impacted so many people in many different ways. For us, It made us realize that life is way too short and also pushed us to make a leap we have been wanting to make for a long time. A leap that would put us in a position to be able to help many people. Not only put them in a better financial satiation but also help the community by bringing more jobs to the area. In July of 2020, we decided to quit our jobs and partner with Cross Country Mortgage to start a consumer direct branch here in North Scottsdale.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Mitch: Nothing worth having comes easy but it has overall been way smoother then we could have imagined. Given opening up a new branch in a new state during a pandemic. We believe when it’s meant to be the pieces will just fall into place. That is what happened here. We came in and found an amazing building space in a perfect location and were able to hire on some amazing staff.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Mitch: His specialty is operations leadership and mine is operations training and development. We brought our experience of the mortgage ops world to the front end of the business. These skills have been able to greatly set us apart from the rest. Training our loan officers all aspects of the mortgage process.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Frank: I was very outgoing as a kid. I knew from the very beginning that I wanted to help people. I would put on comedy sketches in my living room just to see my family and friends laugh. It made me feel good to know that for just a moment, I could take folks away from stresses that they maybe going through in their life. That has always been my main focus. To help people.
Mitch: I was also very outgoing as a kid. I was in choir and theater in high school. I loved studying foreign languages and traveling to new destinations. I have always been adventurous. Exploring new areas and meeting new people.
