Exequiel Datingaling

Hi Exequiel, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.

Well I appreciate you letting me share my story and having me . Let me see if I can think of a good place to start . I’ve never really been in this position. A good backstory would probably start at the age of eight, I started the American dream. I came here with my mother and two pieces of luggage with the hope of having a better life. That was it. That was our escape from where we were at and the start in a brand new world. We landed in LAX and got picked up by my aunt who helped us get on our feet. She was the eldest of my mother’s siblings, had two kids and has businesses of her own that were doing well. I remember the first time stepping ground on American soil, the air was fresh and cleaner than where I was from.

My mother worked two jobs to maintain the household, and I went to private schools throughout elementary and high school. This was expensive, and so during summers, I would work a job to be able to pay for school.

At times I would work for the school and work as maintenance or a custodian to make ends meet and help my mom. This as early  as freshman year of highschool. Boy those years were rough. It was the time where you grew recognition and. Notoriety for your social status. And I was seen as the poor kid. This is what made me the hard worker I am now. The money I made from that I never saw a down of it. It just went to my tuition. At that time I didn’t really care. I was really happy that was helping out my mother. After 2 years in Catholic school, which I didn’t fit in all too well in. I decided to go to public School in North high which is where I graduated.

Fast forward after high school and going into college, I decided to pursue an athletic career in mixed martial arts and Brazilian and Jiu-Jitsu while working in the finance industry. My career started as a teller, working in the busiest store in Phoenix. Boy that was difficult, working there was a doozy, each and every teller window was almost always lined up all the way to the door. Getting home was an extra hour, because all of us tellers had to balance our drawers at the end of the night. That was the start of my climb on the corporate ladder.  My tenure in the finance industry included Challenge Financial, Wells Fargo, and Chase, later down the road. I the. Switched industries and jumped into logistics working with companies like Updike distribution logistics and Swift. Having built a heavy background in sales, the jobs I had instilled in me a sales mindset. A go-getter type of mindset.  Later after my some monumental life events, I went through another drastic change.

This time I decided to become an author and wrote my first book. Now, at the age of 32, I am in the process of starting a new business in the pet supplement industry. Living the American dream has been a grueling and rewarding experience. Geez louise, have I been through a lot in the short time I’ve lived here. It’s been a wild ride as they say, however it has given me the opportunity to become an amazing father and have a purpose-driven life.

We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?

Let me tell you this about myself , in my family there are leaders thinkers. I am the black sheep of the family, the wild child . I was the one that you had to look after everywhere he went .I was the  only kid that caused trouble in school. My mother was in and out of the principal’s office every week. The road has been full of obstacles to say the least. The  difficulties that life has thrown at me and has given me the resilience to become a better man. Romantic relationships and the loss of my mother, being a father, learning how to be man to name a few obstacles have helped me develop my character in such a way that I see difficulty now as a blessing in disguise. A proving ground to see the aptitude of my character. Even though in the moment I never really see the lesson for what it is and usually in the moment I’m mad and annoyed at the  something happening that happens. I always look back when I’ve calmed down and see the positives and negatives and laugh.

As a young kid having lived in poverty, in a culture far different from the Western lifestyle. With America’s fast food places McDonald’s, Burger King,  and retail stores like Target and  Walmart , a place where everyone had a car or a place to live in with running water and electricity I thought I made it. I felt great being here in America that’s how bad it was where I came from. The growth and culture shock gave a unique obstacle that has shaped my drive and determination to become a better man.

I can say I am a very blessed man for the path that I am on. The blessings that I’ve been given I always make sure to give back and tithe in my own special way. The road was never smooth, but it was a fun one to be on. The goal now is to focus on my business and be the best father I can be to my son.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar with what you do, what can you tell them about what you do?

Currently, right now I own short-term rental property as one of my streams of income; I am also the author of 10 Rules for a Better You: Key Principles for a Happier, Healthier You. I am now currently working on my second book  I also do personal training on the side since fitness has been a big part of my life. And I am launching a new business that is still in its developmental stage. I am an entrepreneur at heart I am always looking for if the juice is worth worth the squeeze. What sets me apart is my resilience and drive regardless of all the obstacles I’ve faced.
