Daily Inspiration: Meet Erin White

Today we’d like to introduce you to Erin White.

Hi Erin, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’m a wife and a mom. My husband is super talented, so I started posting videos of his antics during COVID, so the world could laugh with me at his shenanigans. One day in June 2021, we went viral, then That Geek Family was born. Since then we’ve gone viral several times and created different series like “How to Piss off all the Nerds at Once”, “Coffee Elmo”, “Random Object Improv”, and “Bardic Inspiration”. While he performs in front of the camera, I’m the person behind all the rest of it. The Filming, Editing, Posting, Brand Deal Coordinator, Moderator, etc.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Growing as a Content Creator hasn’t been easy. We had our share of low views, trolls (who we’ve nicknamed T.I.N.A), potential platform bans, scams targeted at creators, had our sound clip stolen, and even getting our page hacked briefly. The gig life works in waves, you ride the good waves when they come, and be patient while you keep paddling waiting for the next one.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I think what I love most about what I do, is having the flexibility. I like having the availability to be there for my kid, and to be available throughout my husband’s everchanging schedule as an Entertainer.
Our channel has clearly settled itself within the Geek niche. We did this intentionally because we find joy in being Geeks and knew that would translate into our content.
This all started as a way to elevate my husband and maybe boost his career as an Actor and a Magician. I’m proud to say that it has done that in small ways. It keeps him sharp on his skills, and he’s even been recognized in person a few times. Our kid has even been involved in some of our skits and it’s helped build performance confidence. She is not afraid of public speaking, and has taken interest in performance art as well.
We also really love using our platform to help promote local businesses and events.
This year will be our third year hosting a Content Creator Workshop and Networking Panel at Tucson Comic Con, where we share any knowledge we have to help other Creators.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
