Daily Inspiration: Meet Delano Harris

Today we’d like to introduce you to Delano Harris. 

Hi Delano, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I didn’t start taking my music seriously until year 2011, a close friend a mine gifted me a the DAW (Digital Audio Workshop) named FL Studio. From that point forward that was what I have been using to create my beats tile this day. 

Been to college for Audio Engineering where I also leaned the business of the music industry. I landed an internship at a local studio in AZ which helped me build a reputation. 

I represent myself professionally, I treated everything like a job. I also made sure every artist that I was introduced to had an instrumental of mine. That is what got me where I am today. Now that I look back at it a lot of the work I had to do was for free. 

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
No, it was not a smooth road, it hasn’t been much of a bumpy either. When I first taking my career as a producer seriously, my main struggle was making good quality music. The easy part was putting the beat together but the hard part was getting the beat to sound good. 

Learn the business side of things. I had to learn how to become a businessman. Being a music producer is so much more than what people think. It’s a profession, it took years for me to understand that. 

Another struggle I start to experience recently is being able to have a genuine relationship with people. Most people don’t want to get to know how I truly am. They are there to use me for what I being to the table. 

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a Music Producer/ Beat Maker here in Arizona. I specialize in creating instrumental for musicians, recording arts, social media influencers, businesses, and more. Rap and R&B music is was I am best at. 

I am known for being the hottest producer in the valley. If you are a rapper in the Phoenix area, you’re going to get your hand on a Lano beats. 

People know who I am and has never seen me. If we did meet in person, it is every likely you won’t see me again. I don’t show my face often but I get around. Becoming a staple in the culture in Phoenix is what I am most proud of. 

The way I market myself and my network strategy is what sets me apart. 

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
You can’t make it in life without risk. I am a strong believer that risk must be taken for growth. The risk I have made has always been for my family. I will never put my music career over family no matter the opportunity. There are countless cases not being able to meet someone or be somewhere, send a beat fast enough. Missed opportunities will happen because I will sacrifice my time for my family over anything in this world. 

Other than my family I do understand the value if taking risk. I run a business, I have to be quick on my feet and make judgment calls that come with risk. I accept that, for the good of my family and my career.
