Daily Inspiration: Meet Danielle Cook

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Cook.

Hi Danielle, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
I have always been deeply inspired by fantasy art, and when I was 18 I decided to pick up a camera and try to create some of my own. After building a photography business through social media while going through business school at ASU, I decided to pursue photography full-time and work towards an MFA in Fine Arts. Now, I have a wonderful and supportive community of clients, models, and other artists who make my dream possible, and who I am immensely grateful for.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
While photography and my connection with the artist community brings me joy and purpose, it has been difficult to juggle a career in art along with finances. It’s no secret that pursuing freelance photography full-time is signing yourself up for financial uncertainty and instability, but after experiencing years of work in other more practical fields that brought me money but no happiness, I know I’ve chosen the right path for myself.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in highly edited digital photography with mixtures of surrealism and fashion elements. Through concepts and image manipulation, my goal is to create works that portray a moment of a narrative, and that are unique and realistically impossible.
