Daily Inspiration: Meet Dallas Anselmo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dallas Anselmo.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My journey in the industry began (seriously) a little over a year ago. I made a last minute decision to go out to LA for a week and attended a couple of events. Before flying out, I DM’d about 100 photographers in attempt to coordinate photoshoots to create my portfolio. I got a lot of no’s… BUT I got enough yeses! While out there, I did 5 photoshoots showcasing a variety of looks, and was able to create a base for my modeling portfolio. Since then, it’s been an incredible adventure. I’ve learned so much about myself and the industry and have made so many crucial connections that have helped me get to where I am today. I’ve done 100+ photoshoots and have been given many amazing opportunities to walk in shows such as The LA Fashion Show, LAFW, and Las Vegas Swim Week! To think about the fact that it all started by simply booking a flight and manifesting that everything would play out in my favor is insane, but I wouldn’t have it any other way!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There have been quite a few bumps in the road that has gotten me to where I am today. Living in Arizona, there have been many times where I’ve been told about an amazing opportunity, but have missed out because the casting/audition was the same day in LA. It can be hard wishing you could be in two places at once. One thing that I struggled with that I think the majority of people in the industry can agree with is that comparison is the thief of joy. Whether it be at a casting, show, or event, I sometimes find myself looking at other models around me and comparing the amount of experience I have, or how I walk the runway to them. It’s taken me a long time to realize that one of the most beautiful things about the modeling industry is the fact that differences are celebrated! No one wants every model to look the same, be the same height, have the same walk, etc.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’ve become most known for modeling, but also have a strong passion for creating music! I am a singer-songwriter, and currently only have one single out, but am always writing and am working on adding more music to my platforms! Overall, I’m just proud of how far I’ve come. The person I was 2 years ago would never recognize the person I am today, and that’s genuinely something I’m very proud of. I would say my passion and drive is what sets me apart from others. It’s as if the passion that I have for my dreams is a fire inside of me that can’t be put out. It’s continuously burning. When someone tells me I can’t do something I’m dreaming of, the fire burns more and more until I accomplish that very goal I was told I couldn’t.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love the feeling of community here! You can walk outside and not know a single person, but feel like you know everyone at the same time. The energy is amazing! One thing I do wish is that there were more networking events to meet more creatives in the area!
