Today we’d like to introduce you to Crickette Gill.
Hi Crickette, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a Phoenix based comedian from the South Side of Chicago. I also own an online tshirt boutique called AlligatorCigs.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This has definitely NOT been easy. Besides overcoming my own personal issues after being laid off from my job, I haven’t had too many challenges to overcome locally as the scene is pretty supportive of each other. Comics will support other comics by either attending their shows or producing them and then booking those comics.
In other areas like online or out of state the usual issue is aligned with misogynistic views that women are not funny before you even get on stage.
I just try to stay out of trouble, out of gossip, and keep my head down. You have to stay focused and humble. It also helps to be sincere in your thoughts and actions.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am still growing and learning in this scene and I love every minute of it. So far I have performed comedy in various shows throughout the valley, the Albuquerque Comedy Fiesta and I was a semi-finalist in the Funniest Person in the Valley contest and I was able to perform at The Comedy Chateau in North Hollywood.
I also had the chance to perform virtually for the Virtual Chocolate Sundaes First Impressions showcase. I am proud to say I made it through and will get a chance to perform live at the Laugh Factory Chocolate Sundaes in 2023.
This is an amazing journey and I’m happy to bring some joy to others.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I am an Extroverted Introvert.
