Today we’d like to introduce you to Carly Gilleland.
Hi Carly , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was exposed to video production during my years attending Arcadia High School. I created a short documentary about my sister who has special needs. After seeing the impact it made on my classmates, I realized this is what I wanted to do for a living – tell people’s stories that have a positive impact. After attending film school in California, I moved back home to Arizona and slowly & organically built The Good Vibe Media to what it is today! It has definitely come full circle now with us operating out of Arcadia and opening up our studio there! We now are a video production agency, have 5 full time female filmmakers and produce high quality video for brands, weddings & events.
The Arcadia neighborhood obviously has a very special place in my heart as I grew up here. Over the years, a lot of our clientele has been in the Arcadia/Phoenix/Scottsdale area, so it made the most since for us to have our office there. We actually have been officing out of The Marilyn over the past few years and have developed a great relationship with the owners. It ended up working out that we are building out the studio in the same building!
For the good vibe media, our goal is to grow our video production agency, hire more staff and reach even more brands and businesses! For the good vibe studios, we plan to open at the beginning of 2022 to the public! Our goal is really to elevate the video production experience for our clients as well as uplift other creatives in the Phoenix area to have the perfect location for all of their productions.
The Good Vibe Media was born on the foundation of wanting to produce content that has a positive impact in society, which is definitely the most rewarding part of our job. Being able to tell our client’s stories & share their different perspectives and mission statements through unique video is really special. Over the years, we have worked with so many different types of people in all different industries so we are constantly evolving and learning as a team!
We also have our good vibe give back program, where each quarter, we select a nominated individual or organization to receive a brand video on us! You can see more details about that here.
When working with us, clients can expect to receive high quality video, a comfortable and professional environment, but we also like to have fun! I would say most of our clients become our friends! We really aren’t cookie cutter videographers. We treat each project as a blank canvas!
The good vibe studios will consist of 4 booking options: the Blank Canvas, the Modern, the Boho, the Ethereal. Each studio offers a different vibe for diversity in creative content. These studio rooms are ideal for photo, video or podcast recording. Studio rooms may be rented at an hourly rate. Membership option available for discounted rental rate. We really are building the studio of our dreams!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
If any business owner tells you it’s been a smooth road, I call B.S…. Of course, there have been hurdles and challenges, and I’m confident there will be many more because that proves we are growing and evolving. In the early years, I struggled a lot with our pricing and valuing our work. I would work many many gigs for little pay. It wasn’t until 4-5 years ago that I set stronger boundaries with our inquires and I found that by doing so we attracted a more ideal client. It’s progress, not perfection.
