Today we’d like to introduce you to Brannon Harbur.
Hi Brannon, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I’ve always had a passion for creating experiences that people will love and remember forever. I find it so rewarding to see how these experiences can elicit lasting change in those who embrace them.
In college, I studied accounting because, at the time, I thought money and financial health were the best way to help make a meaningful impact. I didn’t realize how little fulfillment sitting behind a computer analyzing excel would provide. Where was the personal interaction?
After a few months of depression and draining work I started looking into how to create a holistic retreat where weary and uninspired employees like myself could vacation to rejuvenate and recover from the hamster wheel of corporate America. I began working with some like minds in the space and soon our program went from broad to super focused. We built a program to help working professionals train their minds allowing them to become high performers in their personal and professional lives. It was all based on the science of Olympic athletes. This was one of the coolest things I’ve ever done and confirmed for me that helping people through transformative experiences was my life purpose.
Zoom forward to the pandemic and I again had to pivot as all in-person events were canceled and moved online. After a few months, our team realized that virtual events were not as effective so we put things on pause and I had to figure out how I was going to pursue my purpose and make a living at the same time.
Having grown up in a family of construction and real estate, I decided to return to my roots and help people with their biggest investment – a home. The slimy salesman persona often associated with realtors always bothered me and probably stopped me from diving in sooner. I never wanted anyone to see me that way so I vowed to use what I learned about experience creation and education to build my business differently. The key to a great experience is understanding what the client’s goals are and what they need to know to reach their goals successfully. I have always used this technique to guide my clients towards THEIR goals rather than SELLING them on something for my own benefit.
A large part of this has turned into content creation founded in education. These educational videos have helped me to gain the confidence of friends and strangers alike and I love helping share the insider secrets of the industry. An industry that most Americans will encounter at some point in their life. My hope is whether viewers work with me or not, people who see my content will be better equipped to achieve their goals as it pertains to homeownership.
Some older realtors in the industry thought I was crazy but after the results started speaking for themselves, many started doing the same thing. Maybe in our small way, we will be able to change the narrative on realtors, and homeownership, making it more accessible for everyone.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Finding your purpose and mission is a challenging road. Usually, it requires lots of exploration and experimentation, both of which come with failure and lessons. The biggest obstacle was always me and the narrative in my own head.
Limiting beliefs and doubts can hinder even the most promising of dreamers. Continuing to have faith in yourself and the process is simultaneously the biggest obstacle and the only way forward.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Selling homes isn’t an overly complex thing to do. There’s of course lots of technical knowledge that can help clients and without it could hinder them legally or financially. The difference between a good and a great realtor is this knowledge. But what separates the great and best realtors are the soft skills and ability to communicate, educate, and create the best possible experience. This is my specialty. My clients usually find me through my content and I start gaining their trust there. Once we start working together they learn how important it is to have a guide that is cool-headed through an experience that can be very emotional. I’ve had many people ask me how I stay so calm when it seems like everything is falling apart – and trust me, every deal feels like it will fall apart at some point. I believe that a large part of the experience our clients get starts with their guide and their emotions. Managing my mental state in front of my clients is something I’m proud of and have to work on all the time.
Additionally, I love making educational content videos. Taking a complex or unknown subject and explaining it simply is one of my favorite things to do. There are some fantastic realtors around the country making awesome real estate content but not all of them are accessible to everyone or serving Arizona. When people think of real estate in Arizona I want to be the first person they think of.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
As an Arizona resident, I love being able to enjoy the seasons in the mountains and stay active all winter in the valley. I’ve always been a foodie as well so our food scene is always fun to brag about. It’s clear why so many people want to move here but that draw also has the downside of home affordability.
This is always top of mind for me as I believe the best way to secure one’s financial future is through homeownership.
If it’s not accessible to people who are willing to work hard for it, I fear for the future of our state and country.
