Daily Inspiration: Meet Avani Reed

Today we’d like to introduce you to Avani Reed.

Avani, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started my sticker business in the summer of last year. It was one of those happy accidents where I already had the material, but I was using it for something else. Having gone from making labels for my body care business which couldn’t survive in Yuma heat, to the sticker business I have now has been an amazing journey.

Despite the ups and downs, I kept sticker-making as my main focus outside of my day-to-day responsibilities and never gave up. That’s the real secret- to never give up on the quest you put yourself on and for me, it’s my stickers.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has not been smooth. As someone who gets social anxiety, talking to people isn’t always easy. It’s actually a big struggle sometimes and a busy schedule only adds to the pressure. It’s not all bad though. I constantly put in the effort to get what I want.

There were some things that were out of my control. Like, I’ve had issues with my Cricut and my printer on multiple occasions, I broke my hand early this year, and I had periods of time when I just stopped posting to social media because I couldn’t think of a single thing. The lack of inspiration hits so hard at times that I thought about giving up, but I never did.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a graphic designer that specializes in editing and word-based stickers. I’m known mostly for the custom stickers I’ve done for a wide variety of people over the last few months, but I’m starting to focus more on just making and selling stickers that I work on or that I collaborate with others on.

I’m most proud of the people I’ve met since entering the industry, which have helped me grow my skills to become better at what I do. It’s being able to make stickers for such a wide audience of people that really sets me apart from the others. Like the name – Side Quest Stickers, my stickers are just as random but also add to the experience for many.

What do you think about luck?
Luck has played a big role in my life and business.

Good luck has brought some amazing people into my life and with them, some amazing experiences and sticker designs. There have also been bad luck like when my machines would mess up with me during a deadline for a custom order or when my old website would glitch with prices.
