Daily Inspiration: Meet Anne Transier

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anne Transier.

Anne Transier

Hi Anne, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I’ve always been a baker in my free time. When I graduated college, I moved back to Prescott Valley and started working for Sebastian & Sons Roofing as a Project Manager. I absolutely love my job and still work full time, but I was feeling really unfulfilled when I would get off of work. So, I started baking more often. My parents & friends were super supportive and encouraged me to start selling cakes. I opened an Instagram, and people wanted cakes from me! I make cakes & cupcakes for just about any occasion. I’ve now been selling cakes for about a year and a half, and the support has truly blown me away. Having this business has given me a lot of creativity and has led me to meet so many incredible people. Modern Coffee & Deli has been so supportive and gave me the courage to start teaching cake decoration classes as well. Since I work full time & work on my cake business, I have a lot of busy nights & stressful weekends, but I’ve never felt so full of purpose. One day I would like to fully work on the cakes, but I love both of my jobs so much it’s so hard to give up!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I think if you ask any business owner about their beginnings, it will never be a smooth road. I’ve been lucky enough to have a full-time job to support me when I wasn’t super busy with cakes. My biggest struggles have been the time management of it all- there’s so many days where I just feel overwhelmed with the feeling that there isn’t enough time in the day. I never realized that in selling cakes, I have become my own social media manager, baker, decorator, accountant, delivery driver, customer service rep, and all the other things that business entails. Learning to juggle it all has been the biggest learning curve, but every day, I am learning to manage it all!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I make cakes completely from scratch and custom for everyone I make them for. From birthdays to weddings the design process is completely customized to my customers. My style of cakes are more modern & simple- I rarely use fondant and only for specific design requests. My decorations are mostly buttercream frosting. I think what sets me apart is my non-traditional designs! I’m really proud that people come to me with really unique cake ideas, and I can make them come to life.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love Prescott because I grew up here, and it has such a nice small-town feel. Despite our town growing, almost everyone you encounter is really welcoming and nice. Everyone here is so genuine.

My only dislike about my city is how far away everything can be, but it comes with living in a small town.
