Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
When I was a child, I loved nothing more than playing dress-up and giving my family members makeovers. Whether it was dressing up in my mom’s clothes or experimenting with different hairstyles, I always had a passion for making people feel beautiful. Even at family gatherings, I would curl people’s hair and apply makeup to enhance their natural features.

As I grew older, that passion never faded. In my twenties, I pursued my dream of becoming a cosmetologist, working in various salons and spas. Seeing the look of joy on people’s faces when they left the salon feeling confident and beautiful was incredibly rewarding.

However, my life took a different turn when my husband and I adopted children with serious health concerns. We became increasingly concerned with the toxins in our daily lives, which led us down a path of natural living. We made the switch to natural household and laundry cleaners, cooked from scratch, exercised regularly, and focused on healthy skincare.

My passion for the beauty industry and love for natural living led me to research and study natural skincare and haircare formulation. I dove into all the super-sciency, nerdy things to create a line of products that our family has used for years. And thus, Awaken Joy was born.

Our line of products started out as something we were already doing for ourselves, and it quickly became a hit among friends and family. People were asking to buy more, and we realized that we had something special. We worked hard to iron out supply issues and ensure that our suppliers were ethical and fair-trade, with a preference for local sources.

At Awaken Joy, we are passionate about helping people feel beautiful, inside and out. We believe that natural living and healthy skincare go hand in hand, and we are dedicated to creating products that are good for both you and the environment. We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Starting a business is never easy, but our journey has been particularly challenging. We launched Awaken Joy just prior to a global pandemic, and the world changed almost overnight. Navigating the ups and downs of imports and exports during this time has taught us to be patient and resilient.

But even during the toughest times, we’ve been inspired by our amazing customers. They’ve stuck with us through it all, patiently waiting for their orders and understanding when we’ve had to substitute ingredients. Their loyalty and support have been the driving force behind our success, and we couldn’t be more grateful.

It hasn’t been an easy journey, but we’ve learned so much along the way. We’ve become experts in supply chain management and have refined our processes to ensure that our products are of the highest quality. We’ve built relationships with suppliers who share our commitment to fair-trade and ethical practices.

And despite the challenges we’ve faced, we’re recovering nicely. We’re constantly improving our products and processes, and we’re confident that we’re on the right path. We’re grateful for the lessons we’ve learned, and we’re excited about what the future holds. As an artist, I bring a unique perspective to my work in skincare product formulation. I approach each product with creativity, passion, and a desire to find the most effective ingredients. I am known as someone who can do anything, and I contribute this to my love of learning and my dedication to my craft.

One of the products that I am most proud of is our Moisturizing Lotion. As someone who has always preferred oils over lotions, I was determined to create a product that would not only work but exceed expectations.
