Daily Inspiration: Meet Alexandria Roberts

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexandria Roberts.

Hi Alexandria, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started modeling almost three years ago, back in 2020. What really inspired me was when I competed in the National American Miss Arizona Pageant in 2019. I loved my pageant experience, but I knew it wasn’t for me. I knew that if I could put that much effort into something I wasn’t passionate about, I could put so much more into something I am passionate about. Less than a year later I was working my retail job, when someone came in and asked if I was a model- that was the day I met my first photographer, and I have been modeling ever since.

Starting my modeling journey at the same exact time as the COVID-19 pandemic, made my experience a lot weirder than most others. I am so grateful for all the experiences I learn from every day as a model. Truly, every opportunity has been different in its own way! Within my three years, I have been very fortunate to model for local and out-of-state brands, work on brilliant creative projects with other artists, be published in multiple magazines, and walked the runway in fashion shows.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
This road has not been easy, but with every experience comes a learning opportunity. Starting my career during the pandemic was a slow start considering the majority of things were shut down. I had an amazing learning opportunity in this to see the industry start back up again!

Unfortunately, in 2022, I faced another obstacle when I was in a car accident, resulting in hip and spine damage. I was very lucky that those injuries were minor and I was able to model through recovery, but my mobility and range in posing became extremely limited. Coming back from an injury has really humbled me in my modeling career.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a freelance model in Arizona, and I’ve been in love with what I do since the day I started 3 years ago. I do a wide variety of modeling! I love to do commercial work for brands, and I always have a great time walking in fashion shows. One thing I really love doing is creative concept shoots; It gives both me and anyone involved the opportunity to show our creative strengths and interests.

The biggest thing I am known for is hair modeling! I change my hair color every 6-8 weeks thanks to my incredible hair artist, Alyssa Mikayla. Alyssa has been regularly changing my hair for 2 years, which has helped boost my confidence and my versatility. The way I am able to look good in every style, whether it be hair, photoshoot, or runway, really sets me apart from others. I am constantly learning how to establish myself as a unique model and a unique personality in my industry, which is something I am very proud of.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
At the beginning of your modeling journey, there will be a lot of times that you do free work for exposure and experience. Just be mindful not to do anything that feels like it is below your worth. Not all work is meant for you and that is okay!

Something I wish I could remind anyone starting out is, don’t be discouraged when you are told “no”. Your look may not be for everybody, but that doesn’t mean there is anything wrong with it. Never stop putting yourself out there, and always be willing to try things outside of your comfort zone.
