Daily Inspiration: Meet Adrianna Tvedt

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adrianna Tvedt.

Hi Adrianna, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
For almost 18 years of my life, I spent it growing up in Washington State. I played competitive soccer and softball in junior high and high school and was always very active growing up. In my junior year of high school, I enrolled in a dual enrollment program with the local community college. By my senior year, I was full-time at the college completing my associate’s degree while also getting my high school diploma. I applied to one college and that was Grand Canyon University. The minute I stepped on the campus I knew that Arizona was where I needed to be. Since I had gotten 2 years of college credits done I only had 2 years of university to complete. My 2 years in Arizona were spent getting my degree in Elementary Education. In those 2 years, I also met some of my best friends and made some of the most amazing memories. In March 2020 I was completing my last semester before moving back home to Washington and doing my student teaching, and everything changed for me.

When COVID hit I had no idea what my future held and what it was going to look like. I remember that fear vividly, but one thing I’ve always reminded myself of in troubled times is that God has a plan for me and I would get through whatever came my way. Soon after I completed student teaching I got a job teaching and I began a long-term substitute teaching position that followed into being hired as a 5th-grade teacher. After a while, I realized that teaching wasn’t a good fit for me. With it being the peak of COVID I struggled with feeling like I was on the right path and so I took some time working different jobs to figure out my next step. Eventually, I came to the realization that moving back to Arizona, and venturing out on my own was my goal. This takes me to the current time! I have lived in Arizona for almost a year now. I am currently a full-time Nanny for a family of 4 kids and a Strength Coach at Vie Athletics in Chandler Arizona. I have found a place to call my home for this period of my life and have grown so much in this last year. I truly believe that it was the best decision I could’ve made and am excited to see what else Arizona has to offer.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I think no matter who you ask, they will say these last few years have been everything but smooth. One of the biggest struggles I’ve faced these last few years has been my mental health. I have always been a huge advocate for speaking about my mental health and the struggles I face, in hopes I can help even just a single person feel less alone. In 2020 I was diagnosed with MDD (Major Depressive Disorder) or as most know, clinical depression. Although I had assumed from years prior that I had it, it was refreshing to finally have someone validate the emotions I’d been facing. At that moment I somehow now felt less alone, like I could tackle what struggles were going to come my way.

Even before I had my official diagnosis, I had always been open on social media with my journey, but when I found out I immediately took action and began my pursuit of being an advocate for mental health. My following was/is small but as I stated above, that didn’t matter to me if I was helping even just one person. I knew I was going to continue to battle every day with this disease but I never gave up, and still haven’t to this day. If you’re reading this and need the reminder know that you are strong enough to get through it, you are loved, valued, and wanted. Don’t give up on yourself. If I can do it, so can you.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I have 2 jobs, but the one I want to focus on is being a Strength Coach at an all-woman’s gym in Chandler Arizona. At Vie Athletics I lead classes of women from all walks of life. My goal in every class is to leave them feeling inspired, beautiful, strong, and confident. As a gym our mission is; “You come to Vie to train your body, but you stay for the community. What comes as a surprise to many women is the common need for sisterhood. A place to escape the world, and find kindness and acceptance.

A high-five for the hard work you put in. Walls that echo you’re strong and capable, again and again. Together, in our group classes, we pursue and find our strength.” Vie has truly been a place where as a woman I have grown to love my body wherever it is at. If you are looking for a place to feel all of these things I have talked about, Vie Athletics is your place and I would love to have you join us for a class! My goal for the coming years is to start by becoming an online personal trainer and one day open my own gym, so be on the lookout if you’re interested in watching me bring my dreams to reality!

What do you think about happiness?
There are a couple of things that make me genuinely happy. The first one is, spending time with loved ones. It truly fills my cup getting to spend quality time with people who I love laughing, crying, and enjoying their presence. Being active is also a huge act in my life that brings me joy.

Working out is a form of therapy for me. It fuels me every day, leaving me in a better mood every time without fail.

From putting on my headphones, listening to good music, sweating away all the toxins, and truly just zoning in, it has given me the outlet I truly believe everyone needs in their life.
