Conversations with Ty’Shonnia Cunningham

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ty’Shonnia Cunningham.

Hi Ty’Shonnia, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I created Wok (Womenofklass) back in December 2015. I created a group on Facebook. I started hosting my Women’s support groups in Spring 2017. It was going so very well, I started having them in Kiwanis Park in Tempe, AZ. When the heat started to run us indoors, my Godsister allowed me to host them at her home in Mesa, AZ.

I have always been the Advisor/Counselor in which everyone has always come to me for advice, to vent, or confide. The older I got and I began to realize what my purpose was, which is to encourage, uplift, and help women heal the more passionate I became about making Wok (womenofklass, LLC.) happen. I am a Personal Development/Life-coach /Consultant, I host women support groups 2x a month and I am a Women Empowerment Motivational Speaker.

I love to share my personal testimony with other women, empowering them and helping them to understand that what trials or hard times they may be experiencing are not the of the world. That as long as they keep pushing and keep wanting for better they will succeed and that Anything they want can be theirs. My dream is to buy a building for WOK Womenofklass, LLC.

Within this dwelling will be individual Life-Coach sessions available, support groups, workout sessions as well as a mentor program. I’d like to thank my husband, Cory Cunningham for always staying supportive of me and my Lord & savior.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It most definitely has not been a smooth road and it still is hard and challenging at times. I have reached out to Group Homeowners of young women, homeless shelters for women literally to volunteer my support simply to help these women and young girls and have been turned away.

To be looked in the face, eye to eye from one black woman to another, and asked, what is so special about you?? Everybody is doing what you do. It is so painful and really had me down, but I turned to God and remembered the reason why I was doing what I am doing, so I continue. It’s as though the other women in the community really don’t want to see you succeed and that’s ok because the smile that is left on my heart after helping these young ladies and pouring some love and support into them is priceless.

As a Woman of Klass, I pride myself on giving the love and support to the women I assist that I want to receive. I pride myself on being knowledgeable, loyal, ambitious, self-motivated, successful, and sincere. (Klass-the meaning of Klass).

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am in the medical field. I literally worked in St. Joeseph ER during Covid-19. I currently host my Women Support groups 2X a month on Wednesday evenings as well as see clients for individual Life-Coach Sessions. I work part-time at Pink Nation and Full time, I am the Scheduling Coordinator at Haggai Healthcare.

I obtain referrals and authorizations for clients to be seen out of their homes due to an illness. I assign them Nurses, and LPN, and schedule the approved sessions for them to have a continuance of care. I stand apart from others because of the respect, empathy, and consideration I give to everyone. I understand that the things people value most are what they tend to act out about, therefore by understanding their situation and sympathizing with them I am able to interact and respond to the behavior they may be displaying in a caring and effective way.

I specialize in building women up and supporting them while helping them to better themselves while healing from the inside out. My drive to be the best at whatever I do, complete all tasks assigned to me correctly the first time, and give the love and respect I desire to receive is what sets me apart from others.

My employers will tell you I am hardworking, loving, and very motivational.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Make sure that you are determined and disciplined, and that you know what you want.

It doesn’t matter what anyone says because remember everyone has an opinion so they are entitled to that, but don’t allow their opinion to stop you from accomplishing something you so desired to do. Keep God 1st, pray, be kind, and stay humble.
