Thanks for sharing your story with us Jordan. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Hello all, I am the owner of The Bronzing Room. I get asked all the time, “how did you get into spray tanning?” Well, when I was about 14 years old, I was introduced to Tanning Beds* which led to years of UV tanning that I knew wasn’t good for me. Back then, spray tanning wasn’t as common so there wasn’t many personal spray tanners out there but I wanted to have a glow that wasn’t so damaging to my skin. I tried doing a Spray Tanning Booth and realizing “Wow, I’m orange and Streaky”. This led to me dreaming of spraying myself with a custom machine. When I was about 23 years old and had just become pregnant with my second child, I brought up “Custom Spray Tanning” to my husband. He supported me and thought it was a great idea because it would help me to give up my addiction to the Tanning Salons. We took actions and bought all the necessary products for me to start spraying myself. After tanning myself for about a year, I decided “This was what I am supposed to be doing”. I then got certified and started The Bronzing Room. Now six years later, it has been the best decision I have ever made. I thank God and my supporters for making this happen. Now, I am able to be a stay-at-home mother and my own boss. My dream became my reality.

Has it been a smooth road?
When I first started, it took time for me to establish my company; it of course wasn’t “instant gratification”. In the beginning, The Bronzing Room was my side job and my main job was bartending. After a couple of years of getting my name out there, I got to a point where I was so busy with the bronzing room I was able make it my one and only job. It takes time and dedication but every step has been worth it because I have reached the goals I had set for myself.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I specialize in natural looking spray tans. My goal for each client is to achieve a natural look; we want people to think that its a real tan. I end the session with a technique I’ve come up with that gently blends the spray tan in areas that can look more “built up”. I provide each client with step-by-step instructions so you are aware of everything we are doing. I also continue to further my education in spray tanning because I want to provide the best service possible for my clients. I am passionate about spray tanning because I get the opportunity to have every client leave feeling better about themselves.

For good reason, society often focuses more on the problems rather than the opportunities that exist, because the problems need to be solved. However, we’d probably also benefit from looking for and recognizing the opportunities that women are better positioned to capitalize on. Have you discovered such opportunities?
