Today we’d like to introduce Justin Great and Eric Donzella the founders of .edaM Studio.
Thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, Justin, how did you get started?
Eric, who has lived in Mesa for years, and I are creatives who have owned a content-producing agency. We always use creative spaces to capture photos and videos for our clients and quickly realized it would make sense for us to have our own space where individual creators or businesses could have a multi-scene space to create content or do events. We researched and found that the East Valley needed something like what we were envisioning. We both came together to bring that vision to life, and out came .edaM Studio (pronounced Made).
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t quite been smooth; we have definitely had our ups and downs, but ultimately overcame them. Initially, we were the location we would be in, but the landlords continually changed the contract terms, and our opening date was getting pushed out more and more, so we had to restart and go back to the drawing board when we found our current space. If we had been stuck on the initial space we wanted, we would not have opened our eyes to an even better space than we have now. We didn’t initially know what it took to open up a brick-and-mortar because we have always done digital work, so the building, contracting, and purchasing processes for materials and furniture fixtures were challenging. So much goes into owning a space and operating a physical location business. So we learned all of this in an environment that wasn’t completely smooth. an environment that wasn’t completely smooth, but it has been worth it. We have been very proud of ourselves for how quickly we have gotten the space up and running.
I appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
