Today we’d like to introduce you to Terry Ricketts.
Terry, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Born in Indiana, College Educated, Served in Air Force, Worked for Keep America Beautiful for 9 years, and worked at APS Arizona Public Service for 29 Years. I have been an advocate for volunteerism my entire life. Started Clowning in 1969 – was a Ronald McDonald for 8 years.
Started volunteering at Wildhorse Ranch Rescue (Gilbert ) 7 years ago. Adopted a Rescue Horse 6 years ago and after retiring 3yearsr ago – I volunteer more and more each day., I use clowning to help educate and entertain children of all ages.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Being a class clown has taught me to laugh at myself – before others do. I enjoy making others laugh!
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I have been an events manager for APS for 29 years. We had a volunteer clown troupe and I traveled the state bringing smiles and laughter to everyone we met at special events and parades. I developed an education program called ” Benjamin FranKlown” educating students about electric safety.
I am a Yellow Jacket for Fiesta Bowl and have served on many committees – Chaired the Fiesta Bowl Parade for two years. I have been referred to as an “anomaly” by management. Dedicated to work and success. I champion volunteers and know they are the lifeline to any organization or business.
Any big plans?
Being a volunteer and Wildhorse Ranch Rescue – Clowning for Fiesta Bowl and loving life as a busy retiree.
