Conversations with Tamira Woods

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tamira Woods.

Hi Tamira, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Back in 2020 during the height of the pandemic my salon had to close. (I work as a full time hairdresser)
Needless to say I was a wreck!
My daughter mentioned I should try working with resin, a medium I knew nothing about.
I have worked with clay, paint and other mediums but this was brand new to me.
I became obsessed to say the least, I have more ideas then time!
Needless to say almost 6 years and 3 shops later Lone Palm Creates is going strong!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The learning curve can be difficult at times as resin can be quite finicky. Room temperature greatly affects the outcome.
I have experimented with different techniques and materials. Some great, some not so much. Lots and lots of waste along the way but this is how we learn and continue to grow in our craft!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My true specialty I would say is recreating nature, specializing but not limited to ocean art. Desert art would be a close second.
Using layer apon layer, incorporating natural materials and not walking away until i am satisfied that i have produced the most realistic piece that i can.

How do you think about luck?
My friend/mentor once told me I was born under a lucky star.
I believe I was!
