Hi Tamiko, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Hello, I am Tamiko Ruby J Reiki Master Teacher and Spiritual Mentor, allow me to take you on my amazing journey…
I have always been able to see beauty in the world around me, and this especially included people. As a child, I always danced to the beat of my own drum.” Seeing color (auras) and simple beauty in motion was my playground. As I matured my free spirit was somewhat tamed by life, and all that goes along with growing up and becoming an adult.
My Life choices seemed to force me to focus on societal norms. However, I felt that little inner voice or guide, telling me to stay connected to “the Gift.” Yes, the gift?? At this point I had no idea what the gift was, but I yearned to have fully funded freedom.
Here is the route it took me to get where I am today. I am a proud mother of an amazing son. I have licenses and certifications in the following modalities: Advanced Cosmetology and Instructor (Arizona & Ohio), Reiki Master Teacher, Yoga Teacher 200yr., Massage, Polarity Therapy, Elemental Reflexology, and Holistic Health Practitioner, Corporate Wellness Coach, (just to name a few).
What I realized was each one of these skills allowed me to professionally do what I do best “Help People connect to the Beauty and Healing from the Inside Out!!!”
I experienced my first Reiki session over 18 years ago and it was amazing. This energy felt warm, healing, and familiar. I knew I had to learn more, I received my first attunement in 2003 and it was life-changing. Since that day I have continued to study, practice, and teach Reiki. I am excited to share that in 2019, I took the leap of faith to open my Reiki Studio and offer Reiki Full Time!!! I am super excited to welcome you to the Tamiko Ruby J Reiki Project located in Tempe AZ.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My journey has been an interesting one. I am originally from Cleveland, Ohio, I owned a Day Spa in Ohio. And on September 1, 2017, I closed the doors for final time to my Spa after 25 years of successful business to follow my Dream to move to Arizona. I arrived in AZ October 6, 2017, with two suitcases and a big dream. I had never lived here before, so I had to figure it all out fast. All of my family is in Ohio, and this has also been an adjustment.
Starting a new business had its challenges under normal circumstances, try adding living in a new state and focusing on a new career as a full-time energy practitioner during a pandemic. Well, let’s just say that I am truly blessed.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a Registered Reiki Master Teacher and I love helping people feel beautiful from the inside out. I approach my practice from a creative mindset. Meaning, I look for what is stopping my guest from connecting with their core of inner beauty? Where are the blocks that are stopping them from living their BEST LIFE?
I am proud of the fact that I never quit! When I have an idea “I Go for It!!!”
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk-taking?
My philosophy for risk-taking is Trust Your Gut! I have found that my gut instinct never leads me wrong. I try not to overthink things. Also, I have one person that I trust in business that has helped me over the years. Lastly, I have a strong faith and prayer is power!!!
