Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Ebner.
Hi Stephanie, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always been into the art world and was a kid who was constantly redesigning my room. I graduated with a BFA in Interior Design over 10 years ago, and after working in the industry for a few years, I realized how important sustainability was to me. I sought out design companies that prioritized thinking about more eco-friendly interior design. I found Down2earth (D2E) and expressed my interest in joining the team. I’ve been a designer with D2E for the last 7 years, and when I decided to move to Arizona in 2023, the owner, Amy Cuker, was onboard for seeing it as an opportunity to expand west! Our design practice is a Wherever we design, context is an essential factor – we get that what works in other places is different from what works in Phoenix, where environmental factors, like heat and sunlight, dust and sand, and water conservation, are all in play. We believe our sustainable design practice is a perfect fit for the AZ environment.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Expanding Down2earth to a new location has been an exciting journey, but like any growth spurt, it comes with its growing pains. One of the challenges I’ve encountered is getting our name out there. I recognize the significance of supporting local businesses in Arizona, and it’s something I’m genuinely passionate about. Arizona is a beautiful state with a rich history and diverse arts and cultural scene. It has a lot to offer in terms of design inspiration. I’m excited to connect with local tradespeople, artists, and shops to provide our clients with the best solutions for their homes that embrace Arizona living.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Down2earth is a design company that creates sustainable, low-maintenance, and beautiful interior design. We work together to create a space that meets our clients’ needs and simultaneously considers the needs of the larger community and the environment. One of my favorite things about Down2earth is that we can use work with a variety of design styles. We pride ourselves on being great listeners and understanding our clients’ needs and personal taste. We have a variety of clients, from young couples in their first homes to growing families and empty nesters. I love getting to explore the different design styles our clients have! Our clients also love the flexibility of our process. Whether you need help getting started or someone to assist from start to finish, we are here to help for you!
Can you talk to us about the role of luck?
Fortune favors the bold, but luck favors the prepared. I believe taking risks and stepping out of your comfort zone are essential in any business venture. However, being prepared for opportunities, or what some might call ‘luck,’ is equally crucial. It’s about embracing the bold moves while ensuring you’re ready to seize the moment when it arrives.
