Conversations with Sara Baird

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sara Baird.

Sara Baird

Hi Sara, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
After graduating high school, I felt more confused than ever. At such a young age, you’re faced with life-changing decisions, like choosing a college and deciding what to study. Because of my mom’s struggle with depression, bipolar disorder, and her unfortunate suicide, I decided to study psychology. I was passionate about mental health and wanted to help people in similar situations. However, after frequently missing and being late to classes—something completely out of character for me—I quickly realized I was uninterested in what I was learning.

I decided to switch my major to business marketing and advertising. I was drawn to marketing because I’ve always been fascinated by social media, especially how it works with advertisements and algorithms. I trusted my gut and intuition, and after switching my major, I found myself loving my classes.

During my junior and senior years of college, I worked at a job that physically and mentally drained me. Once again, I was faced with a life-changing decision: whether to further my education or take a step back, finish my bachelor’s degree, and gain clarity on my next steps. I decided I needed a complete break after graduation. Then, right before the pandemic, I quit the draining job. The pandemic, despite all the challenges it brought, came at the perfect time for me. It forced me to pause, and that stillness helped me discover what I was truly passionate about.

I decided to take a scary leap and pursue content creation. Now, I create content on YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and Pinterest. This journey has brought me full circle, returning me to my original purpose when I first considered studying psychology—to create a safe space for women, help them become the best versions of themselves, inspire and uplift them, and embrace their true authentic selves.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
When I first began my journey in social media content creation, I was filled with excitement and felt unstoppable. However, that enthusiasm quickly came to a halt as I became more familiar with other content creators in my niche. A major struggle I encountered was self-comparison—comparing my content to that of my peers. I started doubting myself, wondering if my content was as good or as inspiring as theirs.

Over the past year and a half, I’ve come to realize that self-comparison is the thief of joy. My content will naturally be different from my peers’, and that’s what makes me unique. As long as I’m inspiring others with my work, I’ve fulfilled my purpose. I’ve learned to focus on myself and compare my content only to my past work, striving to improve with each post.

Another challenge I’ve faced is not letting my past traumas define me. I am healthy now and view my past experiences as lessons that God placed in my life. You are not defined by what you’ve gone through. Practicing gratitude has been instrumental in shifting my mindset and helping me move forward.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a content creator on YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and Pinterest, where I share posts about girly and feminine lifestyle, beauty, and fashion. I’m known for my coquette and romantic aesthetics, creating content that feels like it’s from a dreamy fantasy world where fairytales are real and dreams come true. My content is like a virtual hug for your inner child.

I am most proud of the fact that my content inspires women to embrace their femininity and become their most authentic selves. You are invited to escape with me into my magical world of glitter and pastels, all wrapped up in a bow!

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
The first childhood memory that comes to mind is the year my mother, grandma, and I spent living in Martha’s Vineyard, where we created countless happy memories together. Martha’s Vineyard feels like my little safe harbor—the one place in the world where I feel completely at peace and filled with joy. I remember picnicking in our favorite grassy field, just a block away from the most amazing pizza place. We’d eat pizza on the grass, laughing, talking, and running around.

I also recall going to school in Martha’s Vineyard and how breathtakingly beautiful autumn was, with its vibrant orange and red leaves—so different from what I was used to in Arizona. There were caterpillars and butterflies everywhere, making it feel like a fairytale come to life. I loved how, as a child, I noticed and appreciated all the little details in life.
