Conversations with San Martin Rodriguez

Today we’d like to introduce you to San Martin Rodriguez.

San Martin Rodriguez

Hi San, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
Hey there! I’m San Martin. I’ve lived in Prescott, AZ, all my life. It’s a special place, filled with awesome neighbors and a real sense of community—it’s home.

I jumped into the media world with something we’re pretty proud of around here: The Prescott Times Media. I started it because I love this town and wanted to make sure everyone here had a news source that really speaks to us, shows off what makes Prescott unique, and gets everyone talking about what’s happening around them.

Now, I’m gearing up to launch something new—Yavapai.News. We’re expanding our horizons to bring more stories, more news, and more of what matters to not just Prescott but all of Yavapai County. It’s about keeping us connected, informed, and engaged.

Through my work, I aim to stick to our roots and honor the community spirit of Prescott that has always inspired me. Here’s to bringing our town the news it deserves and to many more stories we’ll share together!

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Oh, let me tell you, it’s definitely not been a smooth ride! Just like anyone chasing big dreams, I’ve faced my fair share of challenges. Sure, struggles are a huge part of the journey. From figuring out the complicated media world and adapting to the fast changes in digital news to those nights I spent wide awake wondering if my next big idea would work, it’s been quite the adventure.

Starting The Prescott Times Media wasn’t easy. It’s one thing to dream about giving your community a voice, but another to actually do it—pulling together the right team, figuring out the money side, and making sure we’re hitting the mark with our content. Just when I’d think we were on track, something new would come up!

But here’s the cool part—every challenge has been a learning chance. Each bump in the road taught me something new, pushing me to get creative and think fast. They say what doesn’t break you makes you stronger, and I really believe that. Every mistake was a lesson that led to better strategies and smarter choices.

So, yeah, it’s been a bit rocky, but I wouldn’t want it any other way. These challenges are what help you build something meaningful that really makes a difference. And to me, that’s what success is all about!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Alright, let’s dive into what I do! I’m all about media and community. As the guy behind The Prescott Times Media and the soon-to-launch Yavapai. News: I specialize in keeping our community informed and connected. I’m known around town for not just talking about ideas but actually making them happen—creating events and initiatives that bring people together.

I’m not just a media guy; I’m a doer and a philanthropist. I love organizing events that turn into community highlights, whether it’s a local charity fundraiser, comedy shows, or business mixers. These events are not just fun; they strengthen our bonds and keep our community fabric tight.

What am I most proud of? It’s the trust people place in my projects to reflect our community’s voice and spirit. It’s seeing people come together, whether it’s through a news article that sparks a conversation or an event that brings a smile to someone’s face.

What sets me apart? I think it’s my dual focus on action and impact. While others might stop at ideas, I push forward to make them tangible, always with the goal of enriching our community’s life. That’s what makes my work not just a job, but a passion and a contribution to the place I call home.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts, or blogs that help you do your best?
I love using Audible, I wake up daily and listen to motivational podcasts and educational ones to help further my knowledge.
