Today we’d like to introduce you to Samantha Schreiber.

Hi Samantha, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve always been intrigued by the arts as a little kid. Disney had videos of the artist showing how the animation process was created/drawn, and I loved watching those and trying to recreate those drawings at home. My love for art never disappeared, and I continued to dream of being an artist. However, I didn’t know what exactly what kind of artist I wanted to be, and I kept changing my mind until I attended my first anime convention at the age of 13-14 (in 2012 or 2013). I am a massive nerd in anime, video games, etc. So going to a con was a dream of mine. When attending, I saw the exhibitor area! This is a place for people with their businesses could sell and promote themselves, and one main things was people selling there was their own artworks! I was in complete awe meeting all these artists who drew beautifully; thus, I wanted to dive deep into that. Through small trials and errors, I officially started Sammie Scribbles in 2020, making homemade stickers and selling them on Etsy while working my regular 9-5 jobs. I would continue to make more art designs while researching new products, then afterwards slowly funding them to start growing. Soon my business could offer more than just stickers such as keychains, phone grips, and more! I was able to attend my first event not too long after selling for a while, and from then on, I started selling in person and online and got to meet the lovely community of Arizona. Currently, I do my business full time, and I’ve sold at out-of-state events, such as in California and Texas, and am working on more extensive projects!

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Transitioning from a regular 9-5 job to my business was extremely scary and nerve-wracking. I had to pour everything I had and hope for the best, and luckily, I was able to push forward and haven’t looked back; this September will mark 2 years of doing this full-time. Sometimes, certain products don’t sell immediately, or I even have some small products lingering. Part of the business is learning what sells and what doesn’t, and I continue to improve my art skills and take everything as a learning experience.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I take my artworks, which range from original ideas or fan-inspired (from anime, video games, etc), and put them onto physical merchandise such as stickers, keychains, earrings, enamel pins, and more! I love being more wide range in my artwork. One of my favorite things to draw is stuff that people get more of a laugh out of! Drawing cute animals with funny sayings always makes people laugh, which is a great experience.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you, or support you?
My business, Sammie Scribbles, is on all social media platforms. I’m primarily active on Instagram and TikTok! You can also check out my website, SammieScribbles.com, or catch me at local events/conventions! Social media has been complicated with its always-changing algorithms, but you can support me by liking, sharing, or commenting on my post, which is a great free way to support artists!
