Today we’d like to introduce you to Rosaura Alvarez
Hi Rosaura, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Hello! I’m Rosaura Alvarez, co-founder of The Feminine Ethos (TFE), a wellness brand designed for women by women, alongside my business partner, Brenda Ruby Mendez. Our journey with TFE began out of a shared desire to create a space where women can not only be seen but also feel deeply supported in the often complex, multifaceted experience of womanhood. We’ve walked through our own struggles, from identity crises to navigating career shifts and life’s ever-present challenges. Through these experiences, we recognized a gap in how women share their stories, and that’s where TFE was born—a place where we explore the beauty, the challenges, and the realities of womanhood in all its forms.
At TFE, we believe in open, raw conversations—those moments that break the silence and allow us to come together in community. We aim to shed light on the highs and lows, the joy and the pain, and the internal conflicts that so often go unspoken. It’s about creating a collective understanding, where no woman feels like she has to go through life’s trials alone.
Earlier this year, we expanded our vision with the launch of GlowGuard, a personal safety device designed to empower women in their day-to-day lives. GlowGuard isn’t just a product; it’s a movement. With a sleek, discreet design that fits seamlessly into any lifestyle, this alarm offers both protection and peace of mind through its siren and strobe light—perfect for any woman on the move, whether she’s walking alone at night or navigating a busy city. What makes GlowGuard even more special is its commitment to giving back. With each purchase, 10% of proceeds are donated to organizations that protect and uplift women, reinforcing our mission to create safer, more supportive spaces for women everywhere.
We’re incredibly grateful for the growing community of women who have joined us, and we’re excited to continue building this supportive space where every woman can feel empowered to live authentically and confidently.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
To say it’s been a smooth road would be far from the truth. The journey of building The Feminine Ethos (TFE) and launching GlowGuard has been filled with challenges—both external and internal. On one hand, there’s the usual growing pains of starting a business: learning to navigate logistics, marketing, and product development, all while trying to maintain a sense of balance in our personal lives. But on a deeper level, some of the greatest struggles have been more personal—working through self-doubt, fear of failure, and learning to trust ourselves and our vision even when things didn’t go as planned.
One of the biggest hurdles we’ve faced with TFE has been creating a brand that truly connects with women in a meaningful way. We’ve had to take a step back and ask ourselves some tough questions: How do we stay authentic while growing? How do we provide real value without losing sight of our mission? Finding the balance between running a business and staying true to our core values hasn’t always been easy, but it’s been worth it. Each challenge has brought us closer to understanding who we are as a brand and how we can better serve our community.
With GlowGuard, a major struggle was the emotional weight of the product’s purpose—knowing that women’s safety is a real concern and wanting to create something that empowers women while addressing this sensitive topic in a thoughtful way. Developing a product that is both functional and beautifully designed while tackling such an important issue wasn’t easy, but we were committed to making it happen. And like with TFE, we had to learn to trust the process, even when obstacles arose.
At the end of the day, the struggles have only made us stronger and more resilient. Every setback has been a great lesson, and every challenge has been an opportunity to dig deeper into our purpose. We’re still learning and evolving, but we wouldn’t trade the journey for anything!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
As an artist and creative, my work centers around connection, storytelling and the transformative power of feminine energy. Through The Feminine Ethos (TFE), I co-create a space where women can feel empowered to embrace their authentic selves—celebrating the full spectrum of womanhood, from the soft and nurturing to the bold and unapologetic. Our brand is all about bringing these deeper layers of feminine wisdom to the surface, whether through our wellness content, community discussions, or the practical tools we offer, like our personal safety device, GlowGuard or our gut healing guide–The Ugly Before the GlowUp.
What I’m most proud of is the authenticity of our mission and the tangible impact it has on the women who engage with us. I’ve always felt called to create spaces where women feel seen, understood, and supported—and TFE has become that space. We’re not just a brand; we’re a community of women who are willing to go deep, share vulnerably, and uplift each other. GlowGuard is another extension of this, as it was born from a desire to help women walk through the world with more confidence and peace of mind. It’s more than a product—it’s a statement of empowerment.
What sets me apart is my ability to blend my creativity with strategy. I’m deeply passionate about creating not only beautiful, intentional content but also impactful products that carry meaning. My co-founder and I also specialize in tapping into the unseen layers of feminine energy and bringing that wisdom forward in everything we do. Whether it’s through our writing, brand-building, or product development, we aim to weave depth, purpose, and a sense of empowerment into every aspect of my work.
What I’m most proud of is the community we’ve cultivated through both TFE and GlowGuard. Seeing women engage with our content, share their own stories, and find strength in our message—that’s what fuels me. It’s more than just building a brand; it’s about creating something meaningful that has the power to change lives.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up, I was always a curious, imaginative, and deeply introspective kid. I’ve always had a strong sense of independence and a deep desire to understand the world around me—whether it was through creative outlets like role-playing, writing and art, or through quiet reflection. I was the type of child who could spend hours daydreaming, creating entire worlds in my mind, and finding inspiration in nature, stories, and even the smallest details of life. That imaginative, dreamy side of me has never really left; if anything, it’s what has fueled my creative work today.
At the same time, I was highly empathetic and deeply in tune with the emotions of those around me. I always felt a strong urge to help others, to offer guidance, and to create spaces where people felt comfortable being themselves. I was the friend people came to for advice or support, and even as a child, I felt this calling to lead and uplift others. It’s interesting to look back now because so much of my work with The Feminine Ethos and GlowGuard reflects that same energy—the desire to guide, to hold space, and to help others feel safe and empowered.
I was also highly introspective, always seeking to understand the ‘why’ behind everything, whether it was people’s behavior or life’s greater meaning. This led me to explore spirituality, self-development, and different ways of thinking at a young age. People would often describe me as being an old soul. I was also always fascinated by concepts that helped me make sense of the world and my place in it—something that continues to influence my work and personal growth today.
So to summarize my childhood self, I was a mix of curiosity, creativity, and compassion. These traits shaped not only who I was as a child but continue to shape who I am today as an artist, leader, and guide.
