Today we’d like to introduce you to Rochelle Mulvihill.
Hi Rochelle, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started my journey in esthetics in Los Angeles after working in the fashion industry. I spent years helping people prepare for red carpet events, styling them and making sure they looked beautiful for the moment. Over time, I realized I wanted to support people on a deeper level, something that went beyond appearance and focused more on how people feel in their skin.
I grew up with a very holistic upbringing. My mom was always intentional about what we put in and on our bodies, and that perspective stayed with me. I had also witnessed several members of my family go through cancer, which made me very conscious about ingredients and the potential harm that can come from certain products. I knew that if I was going to work in skincare, it had to be in a way that truly supported people’s health rather than adding more toxicity to their lives.
After graduating from esthetics school, I sought out a holistic esthetician in Hollywood and reached out to ask if I could apprentice with her. During that time, I was introduced to a completely different philosophy of skincare, one centered around facial massage, supporting the skin’s natural functions, and working with the body rather than against it. That experience is really where my love for holistic skincare began.
Eventually I made the move to Scottsdale and began building my own practice. Starting a business in a new place required patience and trust in the process, but it also gave me the opportunity to create a space that truly reflected my values. Today my work focuses on holistic skin health, facial massage, and creating treatments that help people reconnect with themselves while supporting the long-term health of their skin.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. Like many people who start their own business, there have been moments where I’ve had to pivot and rebuild. At one point in my journey I had to make the decision to move and start over in a new place, which meant rebuilding my clientele and community from the ground up.
While that was challenging, it also became one of the most defining parts of my path. It taught me a lot about trusting myself, staying aligned with my values, and being patient with the process of growth. Starting over pushed me to be very intentional about the kind of practice I wanted to create and the environment I wanted to cultivate for my clients.
Looking back, those experiences shaped the way I approach my work today. They reminded me that meaningful things often take time to build, and that staying grounded in your purpose can carry you through periods of uncertainty.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
At the core of my work is facial massage. While many people think of facials as being primarily product-focused, my approach is much more hands-on and rooted in the belief that the skin is deeply connected to the rest of the body. I specialize in holistic facial massage techniques that work with the fascia, lymphatic system, and circulation to support healthy, radiant skin.
Each treatment is very intentional and customized. I incorporate techniques like sculpting massage, gua sha, and lymphatic drainage to release tension in the face and support the skin’s natural function. Many of my clients come to me not only for skin concerns, but because they leave feeling deeply relaxed and reconnected to their bodies.
What I’m most proud of is creating a space where people can slow down and receive care in a way that feels both therapeutic and results-driven. In an industry that often prioritizes aggressive treatments and quick fixes, I’ve chosen to focus on methods that support the skin long term and work with the body rather than against it.
I think what sets my work apart is that my treatments are truly hands-on. Facial massage is both an art and a skill that takes years to develop, and it allows me to work very intuitively with each client’s skin and facial structure. No two facials are ever the same.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
What I love most about this city is the people. It’s honestly been a breath of fresh air to meet so many genuinely kind and welcoming individuals. There’s a real sense of warmth here, and I’ve felt very supported as a small business owner.
What I like least? I would probably have to say driving on the freeways. It can definitely be a bit intense at times!
