Today we’d like to introduce you to Rada Shaker
Hi Rada, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Hi, I’m Rada Shaker, the founder of Alhamadani. The story of Alhamadani began with a deep passion for the art of perfumery, one that was cultivated through years of travel and exposure to different cultures. Growing up, I was always fascinated by the way scents can evoke powerful memories and emotions. I had the opportunity to explore various parts of the world, and it was during these travels that I developed a love for fragrance and the natural ingredients used to create it.
In particular, I was drawn to the traditional methods of perfumery—methods that rely on craftsmanship and patience rather than mass production. I realized that I wanted to build something that could combine this appreciation for old-world techniques with a modern sensibility, something that could capture the essence of different cultures and transport people through scent.
Thus, Alhamadani was born. The brand is rooted in the belief that nature’s finest ingredients, when thoughtfully blended, can tell a story and evoke emotions. From sourcing exquisite oils around the globe to partnering with a family-owned distillery in Oregon for organic alcohol, every step of our process reflects a commitment to quality, tradition, and sustainability.
Our journey hasn’t always been easy, but it has been incredibly rewarding. We started as a small lab in Scottsdale, Arizona, and through perseverance and passion, we’ve been able to share our handcrafted fragrances with people all over. Each fragrance is still made by hand, without the use of machines, to honor the timeless techniques passed down through generations.
I’m proud of how far we’ve come, but I’m even more excited about the future as we continue to innovate while staying true to our roots. Alhamadani is more than just a fragrance brand—it’s a sensory journey, a celebration of beauty, culture, and craftsmanship.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. When we first started Alhamadani, one of our biggest challenges was finding the right suppliers who could provide the high-quality, natural ingredients we were committed to using. We wanted to source from all over the world, which sounded romantic in theory but proved to be a logistical and financial hurdle. There were times when shipments were delayed, or the quality of the oils didn’t meet our standards, which set us back significantly.
Another challenge was perfecting our technique. Since we’re dedicated to traditional craftsmanship and avoid using machines, it took a lot of trial and error to master the methods that would give us the results we envisioned. There were countless days—and nights—spent experimenting, testing, and refining our process. We lost a lot of time, effort, and money along the way, which was discouraging at times.
But despite the struggles, I think those challenges ultimately made us better. We learned valuable lessons about patience, resilience, and the importance of staying true to our vision, even when things got tough. Now, looking back, I can see that those difficulties helped shape the brand into what it is today—a company that values quality and craftsmanship above all else.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
At Alhamadani, we specialize in creating handcrafted, artisanal fragrances that tell a story. Our fragrances are meticulously crafted using natural ingredients sourced from around the world, and each blend is designed to transport you to another place—whether that’s the lavender fields of France or the spice markets of the Middle East.
What sets us apart is our commitment to traditional craftsmanship. Every bottle of Alhamadani fragrance is made by hand, without the use of machines. This allows us to stay connected to the time-honored techniques of perfumery, something that has been passed down through generations. We believe that the true art of fragrance creation lies in this hands-on approach, where passion and skill come together to create something truly special.
One of the things I’m most proud of is our dedication to sustainability. We use organic alcohol sourced from a family-owned distillery, which allows us to ensure that our products not only smell amazing but also have a lighter impact on the planet. For me, sustainability isn’t just a buzzword—it’s a core value that shapes everything we do.
We’re known for our attention to detail and the way we curate unique, globally-inspired scents. Every fragrance we create is a reflection of the world around us, crafted with the finest oils and ingredients to ensure the highest quality. Our customers appreciate that they’re getting something truly special—a product that’s not mass-produced but handcrafted with care and love.
What I’m most proud of is that we’ve been able to stay true to our vision while growing the brand. We’ve faced many challenges along the way, but we’ve never compromised on quality, craftsmanship, or sustainability. That dedication is what sets Alhamadani apart and what makes our work so meaningful.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
Over the next 5-10 years, I see the fragrance industry continuing to move toward greater personalization and sustainability. Consumers are becoming more knowledgeable and intentional about the products they use, and this is driving a demand for transparency in sourcing, production, and ingredients. More people want to know where their fragrances come from, how they’re made, and what impact they have on the environment. This aligns perfectly with what we’re doing at Alhamadani, as we’ve always prioritized sustainability and high-quality, natural ingredients.
One of the biggest shifts I foresee is the growing demand for artisanal and handcrafted products. As people move away from mass-produced goods, there’s a rising appreciation for the craftsmanship and care that go into smaller-batch, handmade items. I believe this trend will continue to grow as consumers seek out products with a personal touch and a story behind them—whether it’s knowing the perfumer or understanding the journey of the ingredients.
Additionally, I think the fragrance industry will continue to see more niche and bespoke fragrance houses emerging. There’s a shift toward customization, where people want to create a signature scent that reflects their individuality. This is exciting because it encourages creativity and innovation within the industry, pushing perfumers to experiment with unique ingredients and combinations that may not have been explored before.
Finally, sustainability will play an even bigger role in shaping the industry. From the way ingredients are sourced to the packaging of the products, I believe there will be a stronger emphasis on reducing environmental impact. Brands that can successfully combine luxury with eco-consciousness will likely stand out in the coming years.
In short, I see the future of perfumery as being more personal, more sustainable, and more artisanal—and I’m excited for Alhamadani to continue being a part of that movement.
