Today we’d like to introduce you to Philip Tzeng. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Philip Tzeng aka @LasVegasFill goes out multiple nights a week and covers every cuisine imaginable on various social media platforms. Initially building him following on Yelp with funny, profanity-laced reviews, he transitioned to Instagram in 2017 and hasn’t looked back with over 275k followers and 440k on TikTok and counting.
Originally hailing from Boston, MA, Phil’s love for all things food started early being raised by Taiwanese parents and his mom’s extraordinary cooking. He then spent 10 years in New York City broadening his taste bud horizons with a spectrum of culinary experiences, which he took to another level by moving to Japan and traveling around Asia for two years. It was not until his first job in Vegas, which was a swing shift gig, that he started covering late-night dinner spots and subsequently caught the writing bug.
He currently runs a social media marketing and consulting company aptly named LasVegasFill boasting a roster of well-known eateries in the city, works as a photographer using only his phone, and as a freelance writer.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Life isn’t a smooth road for anyone. But the version of me 5 years ago would be super jealous of where I am now and I hope I can say the same in 5 years. Becoming a full-time social foodie was never the plan, but my life became way too hectic, and balancing regular work was too much, so I had to make a decision and this is a lot more fun!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I talk about restaurants and post about food on social media platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. Most of the posts are narrated videos of my experience, which has fortunately resonated with many in the Vegas area. Based on the demographics of my audience, I believe I am here to advise on where dudes should take their dates to.
I am proud of my consistency and the overall body of work and seeing how it has evolved over the years. Consistency has been my biggest accomplishment as so many in the social media game tend to come out hot and then fade out. I tend to showcase more fine dining and shellfish than most, which sets me apart the most.
Risk-taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Life is simply killing time before death; how you choose to spend that time is up to you. Risk is very subjective.
Some may see some of my life actions as risks:
– Quitting my job and selling my apartment after 10 years in NYC to teach English in Japan
– Moving to Las Vegas without knowing anyone or having a plan
– Quitting a very cushy, nice paying job to do food blogging full time.
Is that risk? Or are these just better decisions people don’t have the guts to do?
