Today we’d like to introduce you to Owen Amble
Hi Owen, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started making music when I was 15 in my hometown of Spokane, Washington. My older cousin showed me his make-shift studio he had in his room one day during the summer before my first year of highschool. I asked if we could make a song and we did and after that, I was hooked. I would make silly meme songs and post them on SoundCloud in 2019 and 2020 featuring my friends. During COVID, I moved away from my hometown sort of unexpectedly with my mom and my brother and music was the only outlet I had to keep me occupied. I started taking my writing more seriously and began experimenting with my style, I soon realized that I had genuine potential based upon the reactions of my friends, who I would rap my new songs to over the phone. I would then be gifted a PC from another one of my older cousins and I immediately started learning how to make my own beats and produce my own songs. I spent practically my entire junior year of high school just learning how to operate FL studio. My senior year came around and my little brother and I moved back to Spokane to live with our dad. It was during this time I felt I was ready to start officially putting my new and improved sound out there. I formed a music collective known as YPD (Yung Pagan Disciples) / Pioneer Records. I began to produce projects for my friends who were also interested in putting out music. It was at this point I started to gain a little bit of traction and since then it has been a wild ride. I graduated high school and started attending Grand Canyon University where I currently am writing this from. While being here I have opened for many successful artists such as Thouxanbanfauni, black Smurf, and Billy Marchiafava. My sound only continues to get better and I wouldn’t be where I am today without the support of my friends and family who believed in me and saw my hard work the whole way.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t been the smoothest road but I have still enjoyed every second I have given to my musical journey. Self-confidence is something I really struggled with during my teenage years, but my desire for people to hear my music helped me overcome my fears. Nowadays, I am comfortable performing my music or showing it to strangers, but challenges now look a lot different. I’ve learned that there is a lot of greed in this industry and many people who claim to want to help you really just want to take advantage. I have learned that the only person I can trust at this point in my career is me. No one else can elevate me to the next level besides myself.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
yung pagan god is RENAISSANCE MAN. There is nothing I can’t do. But I guess if I had to narrow it down, my roots are in Hip-Hop. Old school or trap. I’m known for my unpredictability, you never know what you’re gonna get on a YPG shuffle or with a new single or project. Even on stage I have shocked some audiences with cinematic choreography. I am proud of my ability to evolve and polish my sound with every new song.
