Conversations with David “PAMPS” Gonzalez

Today we’d like to introduce you to David “PAMPS” Gonzalez.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Born and raised in Yuma, AZ. Live in the Greater Phoenix area now.

I’ve been in the music business for over 20+ years. Started as a concert promoter, then eventually worked my way into Graphic Design over time. Working with artists directly, creating their vision on graphics for either it is a single cover design, album cover design, and other misc. media used to advertise their music.

I went to school for Graphic Design back in the day for college but never graduated with a degree, got married had kids, and all that fun stuff. I’ve always had an itch for design and creation. I’ve worked with artists such as Rick Ross, French Montana, King Lil G, Young Drummer Boy, YBE, Del Records, Rancho Humilde, RC Music, Interscope, and many others. After working independently for over 10+ years on graphic design in the music industry, filming kind of came hand in hand with design. I’ve always had interesting films and brought an idea to life through creation.

I’ve been filming independently for 3+ years now (self-taught). I specialize in Music Videos and Brand Commercials. I have grown a big clientele base in California, being that the majority of my core clients/affiliates are based there. I’ve filmed in major cities such as Los Angeles, Hollywood, San Francisco, San Jose, San Diego, and surrounding cities throughout the Golden State. I’ve filmed throughout Miami, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Mexico, Texas, and New Mexico as well. Growing my clientele and resume as well.

Aside from the creative end in this music industry, I am an active Artist Manager for numerous Artists ranging from Hip-Hop to Mariachi/Banda/Corridos Genres. I am an affiliate and partner with EMPIRE Distribution which empowers me to release Music Digitally for any and all artists signed to me or interested in doing independent music distribution.

I am pretty much a one-stop-shop for artists looking to establish their music and names. I design, film, manage and distribute music to the world.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Definitely not a smooth road. Aside from sleepless nights, traveling, and being away from family, the struggle has been real. But I wouldn’t trade the world for it. Like they say as long as you do what you love, you’ll never work another day in your life.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Videography & Graphic Design.

I’ve created a unique style to my artwork and filming style that has set my work apart from others in the industry. I continue to learn and develop myself but I have branded and created a name for myself in this industry.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Work ethic: My parents worked in the agriculture fields, sweat, pain, and hunger. Nothing I do now even on my worst 15 hours workdays can compare to the pain they endured in those fields.

The second my back, legs, and arms begin to hurt from carrying a 15lb+ camera w/stabilizer, I remember their real pain and quickly brush it off and keep going.
