Conversations with Myeshia Washington

Today we’d like to introduce you to Myeshia Washington. 

Hi Myeshia, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My name is Myeshia Washington and I am the owner of Peach44 LLC, Dba Peach 44 Creations. I am currently based in Chandler, AZ. I was born in October of 1981 in Detroit, Michigan. After successfully completing high school, I went to college to major in pre-medicine. I didn’t complete my college studies however I carried my passion for helping people with me. I was a home health aide, rehab technician, and pharmacist tech in my early days. I moved to Arizona to try something new in 2009. My brother had moved to Arizona a few years prior and with some convincing from my 4year old nephew, I made the move.

With this move, I branched into auto insurance, pharmacy benefits and landed in a healthcare role as a claims processor. During this time, I was diagnosed with anxiety and depression and given pharmaceuticals to manage. That was not my idea of living life. I didn’t want to pop pills daily so I found a better way.

With my anxiety and the benefits marijuana provided me, I was able to find a balance. I took my passion for helping people and combined that with a love for baking to start baking edibles. Before starting my company, I researched the plant, how to infuse products, and the benefits of the usage. Through trial and error, I was able to find a balance to incorporate the THC into my baked items. My mission to help others who suffer from chronic pain, cancer, degenerative diseases was now combined with changing the stigma around edibles. Edibles are frowned upon as just wanting to be high. That is not the case for many! It is a way to get pain relief, calm anxiety, help with nausea, insomnia, depression. This is why I bake infused items to the specifications of the customers’ needs. My grandmother was my inspiration to begin my business. Not only did she teach me to bake, she did so with crippling arthritis. Watching her in pain daily for years, before her passing, was a constant reminder to push and make a product that could help those who suffered as well. Her nickname was Peaches and she was born in 1944. I launched Peach 44 Creations on her birthday of 2021.

I am currently based in Chandler, Az. I am a vendor for multiple events and also take custom orders daily. I am launching my website in 2022 along with a weekly menu that includes savory foods such as lasagna. My current menu includes cheesecakes, apple cobblers, gummies, cookies, pound cakes, and much more. I am available for catering and special-order items.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, this has not been an easy road. Starting a business with a stigma about the product has presented some challenges. Being a resident of the state of Arizona, I waited until the laws were changed to even begin the business. Now, I am trying to change the stigma of edibles. There are so many people who don’t understand or trust an edible. I want to change that. Being an African American new small business owner is hard in itself. I am starting from the bottom and learning each day. Breaking into this industry is hard, but I am praying and trusting God to lead me in the right places…

I am a newly opened made to order edible company. I specialize in THC-infused baked goods such as cheesecakes, cobblers, pound cakes, and more. My products are made to the customers’ specifications and tolerance. Each item is individually dosed to ensure accuracy. I sell products that are not typically infused. It is not your typical cookie and brownies. Each item is baked from scratch and infused with THC. I am a home baker, self-taught, and learning as I go. I take southern cuisines and savory desserts and infuse them with THC. I am particularly proud of and known for my cheesecakes and peach cobbler…

Are there any books, apps, podcasts, or blogs that help you do your best?
I am a praying woman; therefore, I start my day with the bible. I listen to Joyce Meyers and am an avid reader. I have read many books regarding making edibles, the history and usage of the plant, as well as anything cannabis-related.
