Hi Myesha, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
Our bakery was inspired by our dear grandmother, Thelma Lee Guyton. She passed down the famous Red Velvet Cake Recipe to her granddaughter, Myesha Harris. While red velvet is the most beloved item on our menu, we have made plenty of contributions, rolling out more than 40 flavors and counting. We have been an online business for 12 years and are ready to take the next step in growing our bakery business. The Grand Opening of our Bakery was September 1, 2023.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Opening up the brick-and-mortar has been a challenging road. Every local business has its challenges. One of our biggest challenges is the construction of the Valley Metro South Central Light Rail that fronts the property. The construction is projected to be completed in the Fall of 2024. It can be a challenge for customers to ingress/egress and can detour customers from wanting to visit. Valley Metro has been a great partner in keeping our site clean safe and providing signage and has been a champion of public outreach to help solicit business during this heavy construction. Our bakery uses the finest quality ingredients, and we do not doubt that the trip to the bakery will be worthwhile.
I appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
We specialize in cakes and cupcakes made from scratch! My cake is known for its moistness, richness, and succulent, toothsome flavors. We also have a Dessert Brunch Cupcakes offered every Saturday. They are maple-flavored and red velvet cupcakes that can be topped with pancakes, Belgian waffles, French toast, chicken, bacon, hashbrowns, syrups, and blueberry sauces, to name a few.
So, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you before we go? How can they support you?
We would love to share our space with local vendors and the general public. For example, food trucks would be a great addition on Fridays and Saturdays. The bakery also offers rental space when the shop is closed on Sundays and Mondays and after business hours Tuesday-Saturday. It is a great space for business meetings for organizations, non-profits, small formal dining, photoshoots, and more.
