Conversations with Miranda Tate

Today we’d like to introduce you to Miranda Tate.

Hi Miranda, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Photography was my hobby during the COVID-19 pandemic. As an outdoorsy and extrovert, I struggled with the long hours indoors and constant time on screens. I craved something organic, outdoors, and in-person. I found my mother’s old camera and took it out for a spin during this time. Within three months, I had updated all of my gear, and within less than a year, I had quit my job to pursue a full-time career in photography. It has been one of the best decisions I have ever made.

We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been easy! Leaving a stable job with a reliable monthly income and guaranteed benefits to pursue an entrepreneurial endeavor is never easy! There have been months where I made less than I invested in my business! The thing that helped me the most was knowing that I am working for a beautiful today and a wonderful tomorrow. I worked hard to lay a foundation for my career, invest in the best equipment, and build a name for myself and my company. I am only beginning to see the fruits of my labors and am excited to watch my company flourish.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a wedding photographer. I specialize in weddings and elopements. My clients and I often share a similar perspective regarding love, marriage, art, and photography. I do not believe that weddings are meant to be photoshoots. I believe in marriage and love and the deep, lifelong commitments that partners make to each other at the altar. I consider it my honor and privilege to capture something important and document it for the rest of their lives. I create space for special, quiet moments and then watch them unfold. As I photograph and edit my photos, I strive to do justice to the moment and create images that invoke emotion and keep precious memories alive.

My clients know me for my personalized attention. My wedding collections include planning assistance and endless phone calls. I love creative design and have an eye for detail, a skill I love to share with my clients on the wedding day and in the months (even years!) leading up to it. Wedding days, for me, feel like a graduation of sorts. This is because I have built such a special and personal relationship with my clients that it is difficult to say goodbye. The truth is that I usually don’t. We stay in touch for months and years, and that is what I love most about what I do: relationships.

What matters most to you?
As a hopeless romantic who LOVES love, I do everything in my power to do justice to the moments. I try my best to romanticize and capture every moment. Because here is my little secret I am not married. My entire career feels like a game of paying it forward. I want to give my clients everything I can because it is what I hope for myself. Photos are the strongest way to shape your memories. So, how important is it to have beautiful memories?
