Conversations with Maxwell Williamson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Maxwell Williamson.

Hi Maxwell, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
While many people were impacted by the pandemic in different ways, my life was changed for the better. I was fortunate enough to remain healthy during the pandemic and I used some of the newfound free time to pursue a hobby I’ve had on my bucket list for quite some time. That would be Photography. In May of 2020 while residing in Stockton, CA I purchased my first camera and launched a social media page entitled Maxwell Patrick Imagery. At the time I had no solid outline for what would come of it, if anything. I was mostly taking pictures of my kids. but I’d look for subjects in just about anything. Well during the pandemic one sport that wasn’t forced to shut down was motorsports racing. I caught wind of the events happening at a local track known as Delta Speedway and I reached out to them via Instagram to ask about the possibility of shooting their event. They granted me permission and I attended my first race in late June of 2020 and I posted my work and the response was very positive. Enough to convince me to return and take more photos at their following race. Through these events, I met some of the most amazing people and numerous doors opened for me. My pictures in the racing world would eventually make enough noise to land me a life-changing offer to relocate to Phoenix Az to be a content creator for a Live Entertainment company that also specialized in motorosport events. I would accept that offer and eventually move to Phoenix in July of 2021. Maxwell Patrick Imagery skyrocketed in the world of Micro Sprint racing so that is primarily where I specialize is in motorsports photography. However, before relocating I did have several clients for portrait photography as well as weddings and other events. I would consider myself an all-around photographer, as I try to excel in all styles. It would be great to start meeting new clients out here in Arizona and get back into offering family portraits as well as providing any other photography needs

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
For the most part, I’d say my path was smooth and I was very fortunate to meet the right people to help me along the way. A lot of stress-filled nights with a mountain of work that seemed endless, but I wouldn’t change it for anything and I’m extremely thankful for everyone who has supported and helped me along the way.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I would consider myself a hobbyist photographer. I wouldn’t really say I specialize in one category over the next. I try to accel and learn as much as I can about various styles and adapt them accordingly.

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
Everyone experiences situations differently and everyone views and opinions will differ. What can be life-changing to one person can be meaningless to the next. Treat everyone equally with love and compassion and don’t be afraid to help a stranger from time to time.
