Conversations with Marsheda Ewulomi

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marsheda Ewulomi, Esq.

Marsheda, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Today I do many things but there are 3 essential ingredients that make up the work that I do: strategy, teaching, and storytelling.

Strategy. I cannot remember a time when I wasn’t solving problems—big or small. From creating clothing for my Barbies out of brightly colored stockings because the budget didn’t include Barbie outfit money (my girls still had to be flown) to negotiating with my birth mother’s boyfriend as a six or seven-year-old to not kill himself through a bathroom door. (He didn’t go through with it if you were wondering.)

Teaching. I used to force my younger sibling to sit through my “classes” which were lessons/lectures that I prepared for them (way above their grade level—to be fair their both engineers, so it might have worked) because my dad brought home butcher paper that I could use aboard.

Storytelling. I loved and love books, stories that can transport you anywhere, words that provide meaning and insight into the human condition, and speeches that move people to action.

In thinking about how I got to where I am today, a licensed attorney, professional development instructor, public speaker, and business/life strategist, I guess the answer is I let little Marsheda take the wheel. She knows what she is good at and loves. She knows when love meets skill, an unstoppable force is created. As an adult, it is my job to cultivate a safe environment for her to run free. Hopefully, I can support the creation of a world where others let their inner kids and their inner knowing soar.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Hahahahaha. Smooth? I didn’t know that was ever an option. There were so many. But I think the biggest obstacle was me. Specifically, overcoming the fear of making the wrong decision.

The freedom that being a full-time businesswoman offers can feel suffocating if you are scared to make a mistake. Through practice and the sheer reality of “I need to eat,” I’ve not only come to trust my gut but also know that mistakes may cost but they are not the end of the world. Instead, they are lessons.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a business and life strategist. Meaning I help people and organizations pinpoint their goal identity, create a framework for them to get there, and then teach and coach them through the process of reaching that vision. I do this through public speaking, workshops, curating curriculum and professional development, and direct strategy coaching.

What sets Ewulomi Works apart is that my clients get the best of both worlds: (1) I’m an attorney and can identify risks and issues to come and (2) I’m a teacher who knows how to break down complex problems into manageable and understandable solutions. Being a teacher also allows me to intentionally center people and their personalities into the strategies my clients employ. They feel seen and heard while also getting their problems addressed. We are pretty close to being a one-stop shop. If we can’t do it, we typically have a trusted person in our network who can.

Overall, at Ewulomi Works we center people while having fierce technical knowledge about organizational development and the mindsets necessary for a new entrepreneur to launch and sustain success.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up.
I loved watching anime with my younger brothers.

Now that we are older we still bond over anime, manga, and video games. I’m typically watching them play. I don’t have the hand-eye coordination to play. And I’m waaaayyy too competitive to play something that I am going to lose at. With my personality, I would be practicing video games lol. The time that I do not have. Lol.
