Today we’d like to introduce you to Maria Delgado.
Hi Maria, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Maria Isabel: The Creative Force Behind LDVinci Art Studio is a South American Artist from Colombia whose life beautifully intertwines law, discipline, and an unshakable passion for Art.
While many know her for her vibrant artistry, few might guess that Maria is also a law graduate from the Universidad Autónoma de Bucaramanga (class of 1994). Shortly after earning her degree, she served her country at Colombia’s Fiscalía General de la Nación — the equivalent of the U.S. Attorney General’s Office.
Yet, her true calling began long before her legal career. Maria’s journey with Art started at the tender age of five. Encouraged by supportive parents, she received early painting lessons and, as she grew, immersed herself fully in the arts. She studied at prestigious institutions such as the Academia de Bellas Artes de Santander, and later refined her skills under the mentorship of renowned artist Christian Toledo Rueda.
Throughout her artistic path, Maria mastered a wide range of techniques from acrylics and oils to charcoal, ink, and pastels ultimately shaping a distinct personal style. Her dedication to learning also led her to the United States, where she deepened her understanding of culture and creativity through Art History studies at University.
What makes Maria’s story remarkable is her ability to balance two seemingly different worlds. Law gave her logic, pragmatism, and discipline; Art nurtured her sensitivity, creativity, and perseverance. Together, they forged the strength that continues to fuel her vision.
In 2007, Maria founded LDVinci Art Studio in Arizona, which today proudly celebrates 18 years of inspiring creativity and culture within the community.
Now, Maria Isabel is not only an Artist but also a mentor, entrepreneur, and cultural advocate. At LDVinci Art Studio, she shares her passion, guiding others to discover the transformative power of Art a force that has defined her journey since childhood.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Opening LDVinci Art Studio was both a dream and a challenge. My vision was to create a school where I could blend my South American artistic roots with the knowledge I gained here in the United States, while also bringing together the discipline of traditional Fine Arts with the freedom of contemporary expression. Along the way, I’ve learned that quality, consistency, love, dedication, and passion are what truly sustain an artistic journey.
It has been a beautiful and unique path growing up in Colombia, I received a strong foundation in discipline and tradition, and later, in the U.S., I found space to experiment, innovate, and bring new perspectives to my work. For me, the magic happens in the balance: the traditional system provides structure and technique, while contemporary art opens the door to innovation and personal voice. That balance is what I strive to pass on to my students at LDVinci giving them strong roots, but also the freedom to create something entirely their own.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am the founder of LDVinci Art Studio, where I created a comprehensive Fine Arts curriculum rooted in classical techniques such as perspective, horizon line, focal point, composition, and color theory. Alongside these foundations, I encourage students to explore personal expression, creativity, and critical thinking.
My work is inspired by my Colombian heritage and enriched by my travels to some of the world’s greatest artistic centers: from Florence, Rome, and the Sistine Chapel in Italy to Barcelona’s Sagrada Familia, Park Güell, Casa Batlló, as well as Madrid and Granada in Spain. These experiences, combined with my art history knowledge in America, bring depth, diversity, and cultural vibrancy to my teaching.
In addition to being an artist, I am also a lawyer. My legal background gives me a unique perspective, adding balance, logic, and pragmatism to my art. This rare combination allows me to approach creativity with both structure and imagination.
For nearly two decades, I have taught hundreds of students, guided them on their artistic journey, and organized community exhibitions to celebrate their achievements. What I am most proud of is not only helping students develop strong artistic skills but also watching their confidence grow and their love for art flourish.
What sets me and LDVinci apart is the fusion of fine art, culture, history, and law blending discipline with creativity to help each student discover and celebrate their voice as an artist.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
“Happiness is where your soul smiles, your imagination takes flight, and your essence endures.” By Maria I.
What makes me happiest is watching my students’ faces light up as they create their own masterpieces, and seeing the joy and pride in their parents when the artwork is finished. I also love seeing adults rediscover playfulness and fun in our painting classes, where Art becomes a way to relax, connect, and express themselves. Above all, I feel proud that people recognize LDVinci as a true space for creativity a Fine Art school where Art is not only taught, but lived, shared, and celebrated.
