Conversations with Madison Stevenson

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Madison Stevenson.

Hi Madison, can you introduce yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I first picked up a camera in 2020 during the lockdown. Initially, I was to take photos of the cakes and cupcakes I was making as I wanted to pursue baking at the time.

Over the following year, I fell more in love with capturing people and their stories. By the end of 2022, I left my corporate job to take on photography full-time, and now I’m going on two years.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely not. I think social media makes it really easy to look like things are going great all the time.

I’ve struggled with imposter syndrome, comparison, slow months of not booking much work, getting burnt out, etc. It’s unfortunate, but at the end of the day, my hardest days as a small business owner outweighed the good days before going full-time and not being happy where I was.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a wedding and lifestyle photographer based out of southern Arizona, with a nostalgic and documentary style of shooting.

I’ve always been fascinated by old films and mediums that heavily influence my style. My biggest accomplishment is being able to be part of so many love stories and milestones; being trusted with those memories means so much to me.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up.
Some of my favorite childhood memories come from various vacations taken. I’ve always loved the excitement leading up to a new adventure and seeing new places.
