Conversations with Logan McDade

Today we’d like to introduce you to Logan McDade.

Hi Logan, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
About three years ago, our old drummer who I was jamming with at the time had invited Chase Berry who is our current bass player and an original member of dreamboat to jam with us and we began writing songs together for a couple months and eventually I had invited my old bandmate Ben McMillan, who is our current lead guitarist to join the band. From then on Chase Berry, Ben McMillan and I have continued to write music for Dreamboat while also all being best friends. We’ve gotten where we are today because of all the support from our great friends and the opportunities the Phoenix music scene has given us. From all the awesome supporters who listen to our music and go to our shows to the promoters who have taken chances on us by letting us open for touring acts or by giving us headlining shows.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s been a bumpy road with lots of smooth and rough patches. Some of the struggles we’ve had along the way is having to change drummers a couple times whether it was over creative differences or availability. Some other struggles we battle with at times is making enough time for the band. Ben and I are currently finishing up college while Chase runs his own company and our current drummer Brayden.is also a student so getting everyone together is struggle at times. we have so much music to make and so many ideas but so little time to get together, which can make it feel a little bit defeating at times.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am currently a full time student at ASU, i left my job as a valet recently to start applying for internships in my future job field which is environmental design.

What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me is feeling relaxed. When we make music together, we all want it to flow naturally and not have it become a stressor to our life by meeting up and making music. Another important thing that matters to us is playing fun shows. No matter the size we just want an atmosphere that is present and involved.
