Conversations with Liz Cook

Today we’d like to introduce you to Liz Cook. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Liz loves to create seamless hair colors using unconventional choices to create rich and lived-in palettes. She is adept in all realms of color but specializes in dimensional Balayage and creative coloring. Liz is inspired by everything in nature, fashion and design. She began her career in Ogden, Utah and moved to Scottsdale, Arizona in the spring of 2018. After relocating, she immersed herself in education and was noticed by Allure, Modern Salon, Milk_shake color, Today.com, Elle, Glamour, American Salon, and more. Using social media as her main tool, she has been able to build a solid brand based around education that welcomes all hairdressers and clients in her chair. She is currently working with local distributors and Milk_shake to bring new education to the valley. She works in her own salon, Color&Mane Hair Studio, located inside The Beauty District Salon Suites at Desert Ridge, in Phoenix, AZ.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Every great journey comes with struggles. I came here to Arizona with only $5 in my pocket. I’m not kidding! Just cash, no job, no clientele, no recognition- nothing. I worked hard; blood, sweat and tears, and built my business from the ground up. I’m thankful for the support from my clientele and friends/family.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a hair color specialist and educator for Milk_shake color. I get to turn everyday hair into works of art while helping women discover their true beauty. I do color corrections, vivid colors, and lived-in balayage and blondes. I’m known for my lived-in and multidimensional balayage and redheads/coppers. What would I be most proud of? My resilience & passion. Without those two, I wouldn’t be pushing forward. I believe my passion sets me apart- teaching is where my heart is, and those who know me know that education is at the core of everything I do.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Oh my! Well, my biggest shocker for people is that I have only been in this industry for four years!
